Thirty-two Emirati professionals have completed the second module of the National Experts Program’s AI Track<\/a>, known as NEP-AI<\/a>. The module helped them meet four key objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These included identifying AI use cases relevant to their sectors. They also learned to understand AI cost structures, return on investment, and scaling dynamics. Additionally, they applied UAE governance and responsible AI principles to real initiatives. Finally, they learned to balance technical, economic, and ethical factors in complex AI decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Themed “From AI Stack to AI Value,” Module 2 built on the technical foundations laid during the first module in July. As a result, the focus shifted from how AI works to where it should be applied. It also addressed how AI should be governed and whether it can create real value for organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Furthermore, the AI Track module connected experts directly with leading UAE institutions shaping the country’s AI ecosystem. These included the Prime Minister’s Office, the UAE Cyber Security Council, and the Department of Government Enablement \u2013 Abu Dhabi. The Statistics Centre \u2013 Abu Dhabi, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, and the TAMM app were also involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The NEP-AI Module 2 combined academic training with hands-on learning. Through direct engagement with institutions and experts, participants gained firsthand insight into how AI operates at scale. Consequently, they saw how governance, accountability, and risk management are embedded from the earliest implementation stages. They also studied UAE regulatory requirements and data governance frameworks, along with the importance of aligning AI deployment with public trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Saleh Alobeidli, an NEP-AI expert in Responsible Scaling of AI Startups, said responsible AI begins long before deployment. He advised organisations to build governance, accountability, and risk assessment into every stage of an AI initiative. This, he said, is essential to earn public trust and create lasting value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Similarly, Azza Aljuwaied, an NEP-AI expert in Data Sovereignty and Governance Frameworks, said responsible AI starts with strong data governance. She explained that accountability, trusted data, and human oversight must be built in from the start rather than added later. In her view, governance should let organisations innovate confidently while protecting people and institutional trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to responsible implementation, experts studied the economics of AI. Sessions covered how organisations can identify problems where AI can make a real difference. They also calculated the cost of developing and operating AI solutions and assessed potential returns. Moreover, participants explored whether projects could be scaled sustainably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond this, experts weighed technical feasibility against investment needs, organisational readiness, and long-term value. Amena Alzaabi, an NEP-AI expert in Data Economy and Monetization Models, said AI’s value depends on more than technology alone. She noted that organisations must understand the full cost of an AI initiative and how it will generate returns. Her advice was to evaluate these questions early, so that promising pilots can become long-term operational solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Overall, the second module of the AI Track reflects the UAE’s continued push to build a skilled, responsible AI workforce.
