HONOR introduced its new Robot Phone<\/a> at LEAP 2026<\/a>. The device is described as the world’s first robotic smartphone. It combines a motorized mechanical gimbal with embodied AI and cinema-grade imaging technology, marking a shift away from conventional smartphone design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A New Category of Device<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Unlike typical smartphones, the Robot Phone integrates a fully motorized 3-axis mechanical gimbal directly into its body. As a result, the phone functions not only as a communication device but also as a physical companion and a compact production studio. This design approach positions the device at the intersection of mobile technology and robotics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Titanium Gimbal at the Core<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n At the heart of the Robot Phone is a 4-DoF mechanical system built around what HONOR calls the Titanium Agile Gimbal. The system was developed through 60 manufacturing processes and includes more than 100 precision components, backed by over 100 patents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Compared with mainstream gimbal systems, HONOR says it reduced the overall size by 65% while increasing structural strength by 200%. Additionally, a 2.6g Titanium Gimbal Motor allows control speeds of up to 360 degrees per second. Meanwhile, the HONOR Super Steel Flip Motor delivers a torque density of 120 N\u00b7m\/L. Together, these components allow for fast, precise movement in a design that still fits in a pocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Imaging Built With ARRI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Robot Phone also marks the first product to emerge from a Cinematic Imaging Partnership between HONOR and ARRI, a well-known designer of professional cinema cameras. Rather than relying on simple filters, the phone adapts elements of ARRI Image Science and professional cinema workflows for mobile use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the rear, the device features a dual 200MP camera system. This includes a 200MP Agile Gimbal Main Camera with a 1\/1.28-inch sensor and an f\/1.6 aperture, alongside a 200MP Periscope Telephoto Camera offering 2.7x optical zoom. A 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera with a 122-degree field of view rounds out the setup. Notably, the main camera supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording in a dedicated ARRI CINEMA mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through this partnership, the Robot Phone brings together ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks with HONOR’s own H1 Image Chip. AI-based noise reduction reportedly improves video signal-to-noise ratio by 8 dB, while dynamic range optimization supports up to 14 stops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Furthermore, the imaging pipeline performs noise reduction earlier, in the RAW domain, and processes footage in 14-bit 4:4:4 before outputting 10-bit LogC3 video in 4:2:2. This approach preserves more image data for post-production. ARRI Looks can also be previewed in real time, which may help creators achieve a consistent cinematic style while filming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For editing, footage from the Robot Phone can be imported into professional tools such as DaVinci Resolve, where ARRI LUTs can be applied directly. HONOR indicates that imaging technologies from this partnership will continue to develop and will also appear in the upcoming HONOR Magic9 Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Embodied AI and Hands-Free Control<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond hardware, the Robot Phone introduces AI-powered motion control through MagicOS. The camera arm supports several movement modes, including Tilt Lock, First Person View (FPV), FPV Vertical and AI SpinShot, which together aim to make dynamic footage easier to capture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The device also introduces YOYO Robot Mode, which combines multimodal perception, contextual understanding, gesture recognition and physical movement. Consequently, AI Subject Tracking and voice source localization allow the camera to pan and tilt automatically, keeping a user in frame during a vlog, livestream or video call. Gesture controls further allow users to deploy the camera arm without touching the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition, a feature called YOYO Auto Execution enables the phone’s AI agent to interpret user intent and carry out multi-step tasks across supported apps and system settings. Through an open Agent Skills interface, third-party developers can also build new experiences using the device’s gimbal, perception and interaction capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Performance and Design<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Under the hood, the Robot Phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, supporting AI processing, imaging and multitasking. A custom cooling system is designed to maintain performance during extended recording sessions. For power, a 7,060mAh silicon-carbon battery supports all-day use, alongside 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the outside, the phone uses an Android-first metal unibody with a curved-edge finish. It includes a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with adaptive 1\u2013120Hz refresh rates and a peak brightness of 6,800 nits.
