The company is introducing the feature in beta for your&nbsp;text editor, IDE, and terminal starting today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2020\/12\/dark-mode-796x597.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The code hosting platform is also rolling out an auto-merge pull request feature that\u2019ll free administrators from overseeing every code commit. Folks who make pull requests often have to wait for approval for even simple changes. This new feature will automatically merge the code if it passes checks set by admins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>[Read:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/plugged\/2020\/11\/30\/why-ai-is-the-future-of-home-security\/\">Why AI is the future of home security<\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mario&nbsp;Rodriguez, Vice President, Product at GitHub, feels that auto-merge will see a lot of traction in coming months:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Every month, we see 11 to 15 million pull requests on GitHub. And a lot of time, developers want to have a friction-free experience of not having to wait for approvals for every kind of change. That\u2019s why we are hoping that a lot repository owners will use it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The auto-merge pull request feature will be available for private repositories and enterprise customers starting next week; for public repositories, it\u2019ll be in a public beta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.tnwcdn.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2020\/12\/auto-merge-796x597.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1330840\"\/><figcaption>GitHub\u2019s auto-merge pull request feature<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In March, GitHub announced\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/dd\/2020\/05\/06\/github-codespace-lets-you-code-in-your-browser-without-any-setup\/\">a new function called Discussions<\/a>\u00a0that facilitated community engagement within repositories. At that time, it rolled out to a limited number of projects such as\u00a0Vercel (formerly Zeit), <a href=\"https:\/\/techxmedia.com\/tag\/prisma\/\">Prisma<\/a>, React Table, and React Query.
