Elon Musk has taken over Twitter and fired the CEO, chief financial officer, and general counsel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and General Counsel Vijaya Gadde were fired by Musk, who was now in charge of the social media platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just before a court-imposed deadline to finalize his deal late on Thursday, Musk completed the $44 billion acquisition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The bird is freed,” Musk tweeted after seizing control of the social media platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Reuters, Parag Agrawal and Segal were in Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters when the deal was finalized and were escorted out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a previous tweet, Musk stated that he was purchasing Twitter because it was crucial to human civilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla who typically expresses his thoughts in one-line tweets, wrote in an uncommonly lengthy message: “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He continued: “There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left-wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
