Uber Technologies, Inc. and WeRide have partnered with Dubai\u2019s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to introduce autonomous vehicles (AVs) in the city. This collaboration is a major step toward integrating AVs into daily life, with WeRide as Uber’s first technology partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of RTA, shared, \u201cThis partnership with Uber, beginning with WeRide, is key to advancing Dubai\u2019s Self-Driving Transport Strategy. Our goal is to make 25% of all trips autonomous by 2030.\u201d Al Tayer added that this collaboration continues RTA\u2019s efforts to engage with global tech leaders, a strategy started in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Noah Zych, Uber\u2019s Global Head of Autonomous Mobility, expressed excitement about the partnership. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to bring AVs to the Uber platform with WeRide. This collaboration is part of Uber\u2019s vision to scale autonomous transportation globally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The partnership will kick off with pilot programs. Uber will use its platform to match riders with AVs, ensuring a smooth, user-friendly experience. Additionally, Uber and RTA will focus on safety, data insights, and regulatory frameworks to help transition to autonomous mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This partnership strengthens Uber\u2019s position in the AV market, adding Dubai to its growing list of cities where AV technology is being integrated.
