Ericsson has won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for the third consecutive year with its smallest and ultralight 5G street macro-optimized antenna-integrated radio – Ericsson AIR 4435.

The Red Dot is an award for high design quality and the international jury awards this sought-after seal of quality to products that feature outstanding design. With densely packed radio performance and state-of-art technology, Ericsson AIR 4435 is condensed in weight and volume yet can support higher bandwidths for faster connection.

Designed with a concise shape, AIR 4435 reduces visual footprint in sensitive urban, street-level installations. Its attractive exterior is matched by the advanced technology inside. The radio product is easy to carry and install (horizontally and vertically) and powered by Ericsson 5G technology that allows communications service providers to efficiently use space, energy, and spectrum in their commercial 5G rollouts. Usability and ergonomics also ensure that installers can handle this product in harsh environments.

The common voltage, AC port enables easy deployment without additional infrastructure. This helps customers to address the growing need for street-level installations in urban settings and build 5G with precision.

Per Narvinger, Head of Product Area Networks, Ericsson, says: “We are steadily raising the bar on innovation and product design by creating radios of world-class quality and performance. AIR 4435 delivers a uniquely non-intrusive formfactor with its 7 liters, 7 kilograms, 4x20W output power, giving service providers the capacity they need for accelerated 5G mid-band deployments. Winning the Red Dot award once more shows our strong customer focus, user-centricity and beyond-the-box design thinking.”

AIR 4435 is the latest Ericsson Radio System product to win a Red Dot Design Award. In 2020, the company won for its Ericsson Radio Dot 4475 and Ericsson AIR 3239 products.  In 2019, Ericsson scooped four Red Dot Design Awards for its portfolio, and prior to that won five Red Dot Awards for hardware products in 2017 and two Red Dot Awards in 2016.

The Red Dot Product Design Awards is one of the major design competitions in the world appraising the best products created every year. The judging criteria includes degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, durability, symbolic and emotional content, product periphery, self-explanatory quality, and ecological compatibility.
