Facebook and Instagram have continued tweaking their algorithm and adding new features, requiring businesses to stay current to maintain consistent account growth. As a result, organic social media reach has continued to decline to the extent that only 5% of your followers see a post made on a page.

But here comes the good news!

Organic reach is still possible if you employ these strategies I will share with you in this post. This article is a step-by-step guide of the process I used personally to achieve thousands of organic reach, gain more followers and drive engagement across Facebook and Instagram.

Let’s get started.

So, what exactly Is Organic Reach?

Organic reach refers to the percentage of people who saw your post via unpaid distribution. It includes those shown your postings in their newsfeed feeds or engaged with you through their friends. Organic reach has the advantage of allowing you to reach people for free through content sharing.

Here are some of my tips to grow your reach on Facebook and Instagram, respectively.

1. Set a clear monthly goal of what you want to achieve on Facebook and Instagram, and push yourself to accomplish them.

Goal setting does not apply to social media marketing only but is crucial to achieving our purpose in life! Having a clear monthly goal for FB & Instagram organic reach will do the magic for you. I know you probably may be wondering what kind of goals am I talking about? Outlining the number of people you hope to reach with your post, the number of followers, engagements, etc., are amongst the goals for social media. A saying that “once you have a target in your mind, the direction will appear” relates to this very well. A sincere social media goal will compel you to up your games and meet the target by the end of the month.

2. Define your target audience, discover where they congregate and get your content in front of them.

What is a social media target audience?

A social media target audience is a specified group of people you intend to reach through your social media channels. They’re the ones who’ll be most interested in your information, products, or services. Some similar factors, such as demographics and behaviors, are likely to bind them together.

To get the most out of your marketing efforts, you need to know your customers and which social media platforms they spend their time on. To identify my ideal customers, one of the first questions I ask is, Who is my perfect customer? My ability to provide specific answers to this question will make my journey of discovery easier.

As a social media marketer, the most crucial thing is developing a clear understanding of your potential customers. Your target audience influences all aspects of your social media strategy. Your goal in identifying your social media audience is to identify and define your niche so that you can take control of it.

Audience research will aid you in developing appropriate content, messaging, and [advertisements]. All of these can lead to improved conversion rates and a higher return on investment from social media. These are, without a doubt, essential indicators for any social marketer. After this step, the next important thing to do is to join groups.

3. Join Facebook groups that are relevant to your business and contribute meaningfully to the group.

Facebook Groups aren’t precisely new in marketing, but they do provide many fascinating business prospects. They’re a fantastic place for businesses and customers to communicate with one another. If a Group is open to the public, it’s also an excellent place for prospects to discover more about your business, goods, mission, and existing clients.

For example,

  • You can share a post from your page with the groups within 30 minutes when the post went live. And if people engage with the content within one hour, the Facebook algorithm will consider the content as relevant and show it to more people.
  • Secondly, you will have access to invite those who engaged with your post in the group to like your page.
  • Join other sets of FB groups relating to free page promotion or followers to get more exposure. These types of groups allow posting your page URL to get more visibility, followers, and engagement.

This practice will expand your reach and attract some organic leads in some cases.

4. Utilize Audience insight tools to analyze your performance to come up with more engaging content.

Who do you want to interact with the most on social media? Begin with those who have already purchased from you, followed you on social media, and commented on your postings. The following are some data items to think about:

Age: You don’t have to be overly detailed about your age here. Concentrate on determining the decade or age of your social media target group.

Location: Where does your social media audience live (and what time zone do they live in)? This knowledge will assist you in determining which geographical areas to focus on. You’ll also discover what hours are most critical for your customers to be available online and schedule your daily post at that time to ensure the best visibility.

Language: What is the language in which your target audience communicates? Do not think it’s your language. Also, do not assume they’re fluent in the language of their current physical place.

Interest: What are the interests of your target audience? What shows do they watch on TV? What other companies do they deal with? What are the issues that your social media audience is facing? After discovering these insights and also your best-performing post, tailor your future content to address their concerns.

5. Research the accounts of your competitors on social media and interact with their followers.

Conducting a thorough investigation of your competition on social media is critical to any marketing plan. Knowing what your competitors are up to will enable you to make better decisions and determine which techniques work best while discarding those that don’t. Spend time researching your competition and deciding which approach to employ.

For me, the most important thing to do here to increase your organic reach is to keep an eye on their best-performing content and use the insight to your advantage.  You can also engage with their followers’ comments or engage with their ‘own’ post in their [personal] profiles. This action will notify them about you and get them to check out your page.

6. Search for the product or services you offer at Quora.com to get more insight into what people search for in your niche.

Quora is a social listening website, and one of the excellent techniques to learn what your target audience wants is social listening. Social listening entails gathering information on product reviews, comments, different insights, and more from your brand’s various social media streams. You can also begin to learn what your customers and others expect from you and your business by using social listening.

With these insights, tailor your content to address their search queries. In most cases, you can answer their search queries on the quora website and urge them to find more by adding your social media or website links for them to visit.

Another fantastic advantage of social listening is that it allows you to communicate with your customers, which will help you create a relationship and trust with them.

7. Follow influencers in your niche and engage with their posts.

Influencers are significant individuals who have generated the audience you want to reach. The idea is to work and engage with these influencers, allowing you to borrow that audience carefully and respectfully.

So, an influencer is someone that your target audience knows and trusts when it comes to subjects that are relevant to your brand. Here are the steps to find influencers in your niche.

  • Free social media tools
  • Search hashtags
  • Social media advanced search tools
  • Free social media tools
  • Paid influencer marketing tools
  • Search engines

8. Spend not less than 30 minutes daily engaging your followers’ posts to boost visibility.

The more time you spend on Facebook and Instagram daily, the more visibility you will attain. Before posting your daily content, try to engage with your followers first by replying to their previous comments on your post, like or comment on their ‘own’ posts, etc.

This action will give you two different benefits!  First, the algorithm will interpret your engagement as popularity, thereby pushing your post further when it went live.

Secondly, your followers will be notified of your engagements, and they are likely to return the comments, likes, etc., the moment you make your ‘own’ post.

Thank you for reading till this point. I hope that these strategies will skyrocket your organic reach if you apply them on your pages today.
