Global Skills Report: UAE tops 100 nations for business skills proficiency

Coursera’s Global Skills Report 2021-2022 gives insight on skills trends worldwide and showing which skills are important for the future.

Global Skills Report by Coursera for 2021-2022 ranked the UAE first in terms of overall business skill proficiency. The report ranked the UAE second in the world the previous year.

On a global level, UAE students were placed in the top 100 percentile in skills such as leadership and management, strategy and operations, communication, human resources, and entrepreneurship, among others.

With 642,000 Coursera students in UAE, the average age is 34, 42% of them are female, and 44% study on mobile devices.

The report shows learners from UAE are skilled in marketing at 92%, accounting at 90%, sales at 80%, & a competitive attitude in finance at 56%. The report also observed learners had a great capability in security engineering at 89%, a skill that helps cybersecurity initiatives. When it comes to data science, learners in the UAE are 75% proficient in mathematics and 60% proficient in data analysis.

According to the report, the UAE ranked 69th in technology proficiency and 67th in data science, indicating that there is room for improvement in these areas to aid the country’s digital transformation goals. According to the report, other skill sets that can be improved include machine learning (13%), statistical programming (38%), data visualisation (48%), and data management (43%). The report found a 17% gap in mobile development skills.
