Google, the biggest search engine in the world, will be releasing a series of updates that it claims will help improve the search engine to present its user with authentic search results for English users globally.

“We know people don’t find the content helpful if it seems like it was designed to attract clicks rather than inform readers. So starting next week for English users globally, we’re rolling out a series of improvements to Search to make it easier for people to find helpful content made by, and for, people,” said Danny Sullivan, Public Liaison for Search.

Calling the update “helpful content update”, will help confront content that is built or made for the sole purpose of ranking instead of helping people with their queries.

In the blog, it said, “This ranking update will help make sure that unoriginal, low-quality content doesn’t rank highly in Search, and our testing has found it will especially improve results related to online education, as well as arts and entertainment, shopping and tech-related content.”

An example was provided by google saying that if a user is trying to search content about a new movie, the user would have previously seen articles that combined reviews from various sites, not adding any significant value. This would not be helpful to the user if they are looking for something else or new.

With the new update, the hope is that users will be able to see more results with distinctive, genuine content giving them a chance to the user to read something that is not seen before.

Another update by google is more helpful product reviews written by experts. Previously, Google rolled out updates that would help users in selecting more helpful, in-depth reviews based on first-hand expertise in search results.

“We’ve continued to refine these systems, and in the coming weeks, we’ll roll out another update to make it even easier to find high-quality, original reviews. We’ll continue this work to make sure you find the most useful information when you’re researching a purchase on the web,” said Sullivan
