In honour of the artists who took part in the ‘Arts in Public Transportation’ initiative, which was launched by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority in collaboration with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), Director General of Dubai Culture Hala Badri visited the Jebel Ali and Dubai Investment Park metro stations, two of the stations featuring the initiative’s artworks. ‘Arts in Public Transportation’ was launched as part of the ‘Together to Expo 2020 Dubai’ Public Transport Day celebrations.

Badri began her visit at the Jebel Ali metro station, where she saw live paintings and polaroid installations by Mai Majdy, Faisal Alrais, Mohammad Aldhaheri, and Mohammed Alblooshi briefed on the latest and most poignant artistic and cultural works created by talented artists in the emirate.

The ‘Arts in Public Transportation’ initiative aims to make arts and culture more accessible to everyone, support Dubai’s cultural and creative sector, and give citizens and residents the opportunity to launch initiatives and ideas that help cement Dubai’s position as a global centre for culture, a creative incubator, and a thriving hub for talent. The artworks may be seen at the Expo 2020, Dubai Mall, Jebel Ali, Dubai Investment Park, and Al Ghubaiba metro stations.

Badri then went to the Dubai Investment Park metro station to see the various works on display, which included calligraphy, live painting, and polaroid installations by Dr Jassim Alawadhi, Tawfeeq Zakaria, and Ahmad Aldosari, as well as sculptural digital art pieces created in collaboration with ARHEAD, a company that specializes in augmented reality-based digital art.

Dubai Culture fosters creative talent and promotes cultural diversity in the emirate, helping to strengthen the cultural and creative sector as a source of revenue for the local economy. The vision of Dubai Culture is based on its strategic roadmap, which is in line with the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy, which aspires to make the emirate the worldwide creative economy capital.
