The International Medical Center (IMC), the multi-disciplinary hospital and the first member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network in Saudi Arabia, has announced the project kick-off of its unified electronic medical record system, InterSystems TrakCare® across its facilities in Jeddah. TrakCare will be implemented in IMC Hospital, Petro Rabigh Clinic, The First Clinic, Tadawi Center, and First Scan.

The Electronic Medical Record (EMR)project kick-off was announced during a ceremony that was held at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Jeddah where the senior leadership teams of both IMC and InterSystems gathered to embark on a new transformational journey of implementing the new EMR system. This important step comes after the signing of a strategic agreement back in November,2020 between IMC andInterSystems, an innovative data technology provider dedicated to helping customers solve their most critical information challenges.

“We are committed to delivering patient care the IMC way, with empathy, compassion, mercy, and divine ethics. We see this technology advancement as an enhancement to our core values. This will enhance the patient care abilities of our caregivers and significantly improve the patient experience. We aim to adopt global best practices and standardize patient care using this robust and proven EMR,” said Dr Walid Fitaihi, CEO & Chairman of International Medical Center.

“It will be an exciting journey for us to adopt the new EMR. TrakCare will enhance IMC’s cloud footprint in line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s cloud-first strategy, as we will become the 1st hospital to use cloud-based EMR. This also will support us with our future growth and expansion programs. The standardization of EMR is critical for this project’s success as it strikes a perfect balance between optimum technology and enhanced patient care,” said Dr Khalid Alem, Deputy CEO of IMC.

“We are excited and geared up for this all-important strategic project for IMC. We are leveraging the TrakCare EHR solution with comprehensive workflows and global standard practices. We aim to standardize our workflows and make life easy for our caregivers. We are looking forward to the next digital experience with standardization as the goal for this project,” said Dr Emad Sagr,Chief Medical Officer at IMC.“TrakCare, with its comprehensive Revenue Cycle Management, will help the administration side as well,” added Dr. Emad.

“Changing to a new EMR is a massive effort from everyone in the organization. It is essential that each one of us takes advantage of the sophisticated standardization offered to IMC with the help of InterSystems TrakCare.Nursing documentation is significant for good clinical communication. Appropriate documentation provides an accurate reflection of nursing assessments, changes in clinical state, care provided, and pertinent patient information to support the multidisciplinary team to deliver great care. We are confident that all our manual forms will be completely automated, enabling our Nurses to focus more on the patients and reduce documentation errors. Our theme is “A digital leap towards standardization of patient care,” said Ms. Nada S. Massoudi, Chief Nursing Officer at IMC.

“TrakCare will amplify our ability to achieve the Quadruple aim on behalf of our patients – allowing us to provide better care for individuals and populations, with a high level of service, at a sustainable cost, and in a manner that engages and energizes our colleagues. It will be a foundational element in our vision as we continue down the path of becoming an integrated, people-centered health care system. The platform will enable a better care experience for the people we serve, providing a single, comprehensive health record with seamless access to clinical and billing information. It will also improve the experience for our providers and clinicians through integrated information to improve patient care and support seamless handoffs. Once implemented across IMC, TrakCare as a Service will be the first complete cloud EMR implementation in the Kingdom,” said Muhammad Siddiqui, Chief Information Officer at IMC.

“The new EHR will have an enormous impact on patient experience and satisfaction at IMC.  It will be more convenient for patients and caregivers to have easy access to all their files in one location, making patient diagnosis and treatment better and faster. We place compassionate connected care and reducing patient suffering at the core of our value system at IMC. The new EHR will certainly strengthen the patient/provider relationship.” said Mr. Samer Abu Ghazaleh Chief Patient Experience Officer at IMC.

“The TrakCare project kick-off is an important milestone and a big leap towards the standardization of patient care at IMC,” said Ali Abi Raad, Country Manager for the Middle East and India at InterSystems. “We are committed to helping the IMC management and staff fulfill their digital transformation goals and are looking forward to collaboratively working towards the successful implementation of “TrakCare as a Service”across all IMC facilities.”

The partnership with InterSystems, a global leader in health information technology, to implement TrakCare underpins IMC’s commitment to align with the Saudi Vision 2030 and provide world class healthcare services to patients through tech innovations and digitization. TrakCare, with its unified Revenue Cycle Management and clinical capabilities, will automate the hospital operations and enable IMC to deliver quality patient care and improve customer satisfaction profitably. Furthermore, TrakCare has recently added a mobile, touchscreen-enabled user interface to optimize the user experience and other enhancements that support better healthcare decision making.

IMC will implement “TrakCare as a Service”, which is a private cloud-based healthcare information system that follows an OPEX model based on subscriptions. TrakCare will integrate IMC’s administrative, clinical and financial data into a unified system, providing clinicians everything they need to make informed decisions quickly. Furthermore, the cloud-hosted EMR service will enable IMC to achieve their clinical and financial goals without making major upfront capital expenditure. It will also free IMC staff members from the burden of recordkeeping, offering them the freedom to focus on what they do best – delivering quality patient care, while entrusting InterSystems with their EMR landscape.

By implementing TrakCare, IMC is joining a large and growing community of clients across 27 countries, who work closely with InterSystems to benefit from the global best practices built into TrakCare.
