Instagram is down again – Downdetector has confirmed the outage. Some Instagram users may have opened their app tonight and detected something wrong for the second time this week. The problems have surfaced only days after Instagram’s parent company, Facebook, revealed vulnerabilities on a number of social media platforms under its control.

Downdetector, an independent outage monitor, has seen a significant increase in Instagram down reports, with thousands of users reporting problems.

Downdetector exclusively monitors outages by compiling status information from various sources, including user-submitted problems on its site. The outage might have impacted a greater number of people.

Facebook admitted that some users were experiencing difficulties accessing its applications and services, only days after the social media company had a six-hour outage caused by a mistake during normal maintenance on its network of data centers.

“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Facebook stated in a tweet.

WhatsApp does not appear to be affected by the present outage. Instagram and Facebook Messenger, on the other hand, are said to be unavailable in a number of countries around the world, including Canada, the United States, India, and Mexico.

Shortly after last week’s disruptions were announced, Facebook shares dropped more than 5%, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s personal worth allegedly dropped by more than $6 billion in a matter of hours.
