Instagram outage causes thousands to jump to Twitter

According to Downdetector, the outage tracking website that collects status reports from a variety of sources in the United States, nearly 24,000 users were impacted by 5 p.m. ET.

A Meta spokesperson said “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram. We’re working to get things back to normal and apologize for any inconvenience.”

Twitter also faced a major outage on June 14 keeping thousands from using the social media platform. The outage was at least 3 hours long and around 50,000 people were affected according to downdetector.com.

The latest info from Downdetector.com shows that about 2000 users are affected by the outage.

It didn’t take long for people to take to Twitter to see if others were experiencing similar problems or to share some memes.

One user stated that he came to Twitter to confirm whether or not Instagram was down and that he was not being hacked
One user shared a meme of himself restarting his phone only to discover that Instagram’s servers were down.

This is not the first time Meta has experienced such difficulties. It experienced a nearly six-hour outage late last year, rendering WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger inaccessible to billions of users. During that time, the company blamed the outage on a faulty configuration change. So far, no reason for the outage has been given.
