GITEX Technology Week, the region’s largest and most significant technology event, which began in 1981 as GITE in the Dubai World Trade Centre‘s Hall One, rounded off its 40th edition in December last year.
With the debut of MacWorld for the 1988 event, GITEX (the X was added later) expanded to two halls of the exhibition venue. For several years, it has been utilizing the whole DWTC complex, which includes ten exhibition halls with a total show space of one million square feet.
The number of attendees has increased substantially throughout the years. The exhibition in the Middle East has drawn large crowds, most notably in 2009 when Microsoft unveiled Windows 7 in front of 150,019 people. The 2012 event included 60% from Middle East, 19% from Africa, 13% from America, 4% from East and South Asia and 4% from Europe. There was a 24% increase from Africa as compared to 2011.
Every year, GITEX Technology Week plays an important role in defining the current trends, displaying product breakthroughs from around the world, and presenting high-caliber speakers. The event brings together the most inventive, intriguing, and ambitious IT startups from around the world to present their game-changing ideas to a select group of international investors.
The 40th GITEX technology week, held last year at Dubai World Trade Centre, brought together international technology visionaries, industry innovators, and global investors to restart in-person contact. The event lasted five days and attracted over 1,200 business organizations, government entities, and startups from over 60 nations.
On the 17th – 21st of October 2021, GITEX, the LIVE event extravaganza of global technology, will return to Dubai World Trade Centre. Businesses will have the ideal opportunity to put their IT strategies into action and find the best solutions at the event.
This year’s mega-tech international event is especially important because of the following notable events:
Happening right after the opening of Expo 2020:
Expo 2020, which was supposed to take place on October 20, 2020, but was postponed owing to the global pandemic, will now take place from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. Gitex 2021, which will take place immediately following the inauguration of Expo 2020, is expected to draw a significant crowd from around the world. Furthermore, the show offers visitors and exhibitors a one-of-a-kind personalized Expo experience. At this once-in-a-lifetime EXPO Dubai guided tour, exhibitors and visitors to GITEX 2021 will get unique access to a selection of the most exciting national pavilions on offer.
UAE Golden Jubilee:
The United Arab Emirates, which was founded in 1971, will mark its 50th anniversary in December this year. As part of the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, GITEX will bring together government leaders from throughout the Middle East and Africa to share their innovative ICT visions, projects, and collaborations. The initial Visions project, which includes Vision 2030 Africa, Vision 2030 KSA, Vision 2030 UAE & GCC, will promote and expand on the creation of fiercely inventive economies across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Africa.
Industry executives will give their perspectives on their country’s digital transformation, key technological trends, and what keeps the most future-ready, digitally empowered government leaders on the cutting edge.
Almost every area that contributes to economic development has benefited from technological advancements, which is why we require the future-oriented minds of our kids. As the country produces some of the world’s most innovative young minds in tech and beyond, the UAE continues to put the youth narrative at the center of its economic growth focus. GITEX YouthX, an annual event aimed at bringing young tech talent closer to the professional ecosystem, will contribute to the development of young tech talent by improving the region’s digital transformation building blocks.
GITEX YouthX has four pillars:
- YouthX Unipreneur
- YouthX HighFlyer
- YouthX Bootcamp
- YouthX Teens-in-AI
The exhibition, which will take place during the World Expo and in the year of the UAE‘s Golden Jubilee, will feature more innovative and unique events such as a “celebration of fusion of tech and creativity,” first-time speakers at GITEX, a power line-up of women in tech, and much more. As the entire IT sector anticipates the most exciting time of the year, TECHx, as the event’s official media partner, is fully prepared to cover the entire event live from the Dubai World Trade Center.
