Microsoft has unveiled a variety of new Surface devices, including a new flagship laptop, at its fall hardware event. The new hardware comprises Surface Book Studio, Surface Pro 8, Surface Go 3, and the second-generation Surface Duo, among others, and will be included in Windows 11 pre-installed, as well as other features. Below is the summary of all the seven big announcements from the live event, which took place on Wednesday.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8

The Surface Pro 8 is the most efficient Laptop yet, featuring a 13-inch PixelSense display, reduced bezels, adaptive colour, and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also works with the Surface Slim Pen 2, housed and charged within the new keyboard. The pen now has a little feedback that feels like an actual pen while yet being entirely accurate.

The larger panel will similarly run at 60Hz, with a dynamic jump to 120Hz if necessary. Microsoft also had removed the USB-A port entirely, replacing it with two Thunderbolt 4 connections and a Surface Connected charging port. The Surface Pro 8 would come with Intel Quad-Core 11th Generation CPUs with Windows 11. The Surface Pro would be up for pre in selected areas starting today, with a starting price of $1,099.99. In limited markets, the Surface Slim Pen 2 is up for pre-starting for $129.99.

Surface Go 3 is the third version of Microsoft’s Surface tablet.

Similarly, the Microsoft Surface Go 3 is equipped with Intel’s 10th Generation Core CPUs. The upgraded CPUs, according to Microsoft, would make the Surface Go 3 60% faster than any of its predecessors. The Surface Go 3 is also equipped with a camera that enables Windows Hello recognition software and runs Windows 11. Apple’s 9th generation entry-level iPad will go up against the new Surface Go 3.

The Ms Surface Go 3 with WiFi is now available in selected areas, priced at $399.99. In the following months, the LTE variants will be accessible.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2

Microsoft’s second effort at a dual-screen phone/tablet gadget appears to be much more refined than the first. On the back of the Surface Duo 2, there are three cameras: a 12MP wide-angle, a 12MP telephoto, and a 16MP ultrawide sensor. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, which supports 5G connectivity, is also used in the device. Surface Duo 2 is up for pre in selected countries today for $1,499.99 in Glacier or a new Obsidian colour.

There are two displays joined by a hinge which are still separate. It slides open to expose an 8.3-inch diagonal display. This time around, the panels have a 90Hz refresh rate and a slight curve that allows you to see things such as the time and messages even though the Surface Duo 2 is closed. Microsoft also says about 150 games would be optimized for the device, namely Asphalt Legends 9, Modern Combat 5, and Dungeon Hunter 5, and that players would be able to use both screens, one for input and another for output display.

Microsoft Surface Pro X

Microsoft unveiled its latest Surface Pro X, which is already up for pre in select areas and starting from $899.99 for the WiFi-only version. The new Surface Pro X includes pre with Windows 11 and supports 64-bit ARM software emulation, and there are no other notable modifications.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio is the successor of the Surface Book range, and it features a new design and increased processing capability. Rather than a detachable display, the gadget now has a screen that pushes forward to transform it into a tablet, or Studio Style, as Microsoft puts it. A 14.4-inch PixelSense panel with 120Hz refresh speed and Dolby Vision is now available.

The Surface Laptop Studio would be eligible to function in three methods: Laptop, stage, and studio, thanks to a novel adjustable hinge developed by Microsoft. Users can set the screen at a position suited for playing games, watching films, or making designs with the Surface Slim Pen 2 in the new Stage option. Only the trackpad remains visible. Windows 11 will also recognize the Laptop’s operating model and change the user interface accordingly.

The Laptop also includes 11th Gen Intel quad-core processors, an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU, four Thunderbolt 4 connections, a 1080p webcam, and a Slim Pen 2 dock that sits beneath the notebook’s front border.
