The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has unveiled a significant development aimed at enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of its industrial, standards, conformity, and national accreditation services. As part of the ongoing digital transformation efforts in the UAE, MoIAT has mandated the use of the UAE Pass, the nation’s digital national identity, for both clients and companies seeking access to its services via its website or mobile application.
This strategic initiative aligns seamlessly with the UAE’s broader digital transformation objectives and reinforces the goals outlined in the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology. During the trial phase, the UAE Pass received a favorable response, primarily focused on improving the overall client experience. Humaid Hassan Alshamsi, Director of the Customer Happiness Department at MoIAT, highlighted the significant benefits this move brings to the UAE’s industrial sector. It enables swift and convenient online access to MoIAT’s services, ultimately fostering greater competitiveness and sustainability in the industry.
Alshamsi noted a substantial increase in the registration of companies for UAE Pass, with a total of 16,574 firms joining the system. This surge underscores the commitment of MoIAT’s clients and their recognition of the initiative’s importance. The UAE Pass is seen as a secure gateway to a multitude of services, simplifying administrative processes and enhancing engagement. Furthermore, this transition aligns perfectly with MoIAT’s directives and the UAE government’s overarching digital transformation strategy.
Al Shamsi urged all clients to embrace this new digital national identity system, which not only improves the overall business ecosystem but also facilitates seamless access to government services through digital and smart platforms. He emphasized that efficiency in delivering services is a fundamental component of the government’s digital transformation strategy.
MoIAT has initiated an online transition process, which became mandatory in mid-July. This process empowers clients to obtain digital signatures and verification of documents without the need for physical visits to service centers. The ministry has also provided comprehensive guidelines in both Arabic and English to assist companies and clients in registering and linking their accounts to the UAE Pass. For those interested, the UAE Pass smartphone application is readily available on both the Apple Store and Google Play. Registration involves straightforward steps, including the upload of an Emirates ID, verification of a mobile phone number and email address, and the creation of a secure password for accessing government services.
