Siemens is partnering with OTE Group, one of Oman’s biggest business houses, in the delivery of its electric vehicle (EV) chargers to help accelerate the Sultanate’s adoption of EVs and its transition to a sustainable future.

Mr Salim Saad Bahwan, Director of OTE Group, and Mr Franco Atassi, CEO of Siemens Smart Infrastructure in the Middle East, signed a document to this effect. The signing just took place at the OTE headquarters in Muscat.

Smart infrastructure technologies from Siemens are currently revolutionizing the way how several countries, cities and towns across the world are becoming more energy efficient, resilient and sustainable.

The development of smart buildings, smart grids, smart power distribution, and better eMobility charging options is made possible by the digitalization of infrastructure, and it is this technology that will drive the expansion of electric vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman.

Siemens can provide charging framework to customers in Oman by using OTE group’s nationwide presence in the form of networks of automotive showrooms, workshops and parts outlets.

Mr Franco Atassi, CEO of Siemens Smart Infrastructure in the Middle East, said “This partnership with OTE Group, a reputable Omani business conglomerate, will enable Siemens to broaden its footprint in Oman and contribute to the digitalization and sustainable development of the Sultanate’s economy. The EV space is still in its infancy in Oman, but with our efficient and sustainable chargers, Siemens can bring about transformational change in this space.”

Siemens has struck agreements with local partners in several nations around the world just in the last year to assist in the rollout of its cutting-edge eMobility products. It contains the Sicharge UC Family, an adaptable solution for urban mobility that is largely geared toward the world of utility vehicles and eBuses.

The company also recently partnered with a major international manufacturer to jointly develop smart EV charging infrastructure solutions for the Middle East, demonstrating the company’s appeal in the eMobility market. This includes developing bundled client solutions and electrifying last-mile delivery services in Middle Eastern markets.
