Inclusivity Now a Central Theme

Inclusion has been a fundamental feature in the construction of ColorOS 12, which has a presence in 68 countries and touches the lives of 440 million users around the world. The new OS provides a more inclusive experience and comes packed with softer icons, animations, and information framework that are friendly to different languages and cultures, as well as an adaptable framework with different phone formats, based on OPPO’s Infinite Design concept, which is lightweight, clean, and richly and very customizable.

Smoother, Seamless Experience Powering Greater Productivity

OPPO R&D and Innovation has always prioritized providing customers with a smooth, seamless experience, and the new ColorOS 12 places a significant emphasis on both comfort and endurance. ColorOS 12 has made some progress in addressing lags and stutters after extended use, particularly in anti-fragmentation and intelligent resource allocation, resulting in a low 2.75 percent system aging rate in three years, an average of 30 percent lower memory occupation, and 20 percent lower battery consumption.

The Quantum Animation Engine uses over 300 upgraded animations to generate genuine animated effects, catering to your visual intuitiveness. By simulating physical habits such as resistance, inertia, and rebound, the function smooths out the whole experience and aligns it more closely with human cognition and habits, making it more realistic and intuitive.

ColorOS 12 users can stay productive in a variety of situations thanks to features like PC Connect, 3-Finger Translate powered by Google Lens, FlexDrop, and Phone Manager.

Prioritized Privacy: Cutting the gimmicks and focusing on the basics

On ColorOS, OPPO has prioritized privacy in response to user feedback. ColorOS 12 includes not only all of Android 12’s improved security and privacy features, such as Privacy Dashboards, Approximate Location Sharing, and Microphone and Camera Indicators, which empower users to be the masters of their own privacy with clear, visualized menus and buttons; but also the well-received OPPO-developed features, such as Private System, Private Safe, App Lock, and others.

Because OPPO understands that user privacy is all about openness, the company has been working to improve data compliance through storage and process. With servers in several places worldwide, OPPO ensures that user data is stored in a non-plain text format and sent using a proprietary protocol on nearby servers.

The company employs third-party supervisors in the data security field to ensure everyday process compliance, holding privacy certifications from authoritative organizations such as ePrivacy and ISO27001.

An OS with Android synergy

While ColorOS has adopted many standard Android features, similarly, we are helping to establish a culture of openness and technical interchange to enhance both platforms. ColorOS has influenced the customizable tendency in Android 12, such as Material You’s Wallpaper-based Theming system, which was inspired by a similar self-developed feature in prior ColorOS editions. ColorOS’ App Cloner, which is now included in Android 12, is another excellent example of this trade.

OPPO has also exposed its HyperBoost, Color Vision Enhancement to benefit Android app developers and strengthen the Android ecosystem, in addition to the free camera SDKs covering OPPO’s most advantageous camera capabilities – such as Ultra Steady Video Shooting, HDR, Super Wide-Angle, and so on.

OPPOs Exclusive Upgrade Policy

OPPO is also launching a big upgrade policy for the first time. OPPO will guarantee three major Android upgrades for its flagship Find X Series devices starting in 2019, two Android updates for the Reno/F/K and portions of the A-Series, and a single Android update for the low memory A-Series models starting in 2019. In addition, the Find X/ Reno/ F/K Series will receive four years of regular security patch upgrades, while the A-Series will receive three years.

ColorOS 12 Rollout Plan

OPPO will launch the ColorOS 12 public beta, with rollouts continuing in more regions and on more devices during the rest of 2021 and 2022. ColorOS 12 is expected to be available on more than 110 models, with 150 million users.
