For our pre-GITEX feature, we spoke with Bob Aoun, Poly’s Regional Sales Director for the MENA region, to hear about the brand’s expectations for the event this year, key developments in audio and video conferencing solutions, and the solutions Poly has to offer businesses. Take a peek at the responses we have gotten.

TECHx: How excited are you for GITEX Technology Week? What are your hopes for this year’s event?

Bob Aoun: We at Poly are always very excited to be part of this huge regional tech event, but especially this year, as GITEX will be hosted alongside the Dubai Expo 2020 and therefore we will see the tech community coming together to transform the future of the technology industry. We will also be able to connect with our customers and partners in person after this challenging year, to share our latest technology solutions.

A large number of companies are adopting the hybrid way of working, a mix of on-premises and remote collaboration among teams and we can’t wait to show them how they can make sure that their workforce will be at their best, collaborating seamlessly and efficiently no matter where they work from. Meeting equality among participants regardless of where they join their conversation is our core objective this year and we have developed all the tools for companies to achieve this. We can’t wait to share with our customers in the Middle East market and get acquired with the local audience.

GITEX does come with many opportunities that can open doors for collaborations and partnerships which will not only enable us to reach out to a wider audience here in the region and present our tech solutions but also empower our partners to equip their customers with cutting edge UC technology that will take them to the next level of hybrid working.

TECHx: How are audio & video conferencing solutions evolving in the current hybrid working scenario? What are the most significant trends you see emerging in the region?

Bob Aoun: Since employees are working in a hybrid way from their home or in the office, high-quality audio & video conferencing has become a critical element. In the past, video calls weren’t as common as they are now, and we see that their popularity is on the rise. Facial expressions and visual contact help people communicate and connect better, despite the distance, and this is something collaborators have come to understand now, after several months of remote working.

When it comes to the trends that are rising now, fast acceleration of unified communications and cloud-based video remote working is one of the major trends and everyone is starting to accept it as the way to stay connected. But not everyone was ready for remote working when we were initially forced to just go home and find a way.

Moreover Artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) ensures both our colleagues working remotely and those in the office will keep collaborating as if they were in one place, by providing crisp audio and automated speaker tracking so everybody can easily follow the conversation.

TECHx: How is Poly assisting enterprises in achieving relevant business objectives through the use of its solutions?

Bob Aoun: Poly has always been an innovator in the tech industry and one of our goals is to equip the hybrid workforce across the world with professional-grade solutions that make them look and sound their best, no matter where they choose or have to work from. Our new products are directed to the companies because of the current hybrid working model. We aim to assist all organizations regardless of the size, where we give them the tools to become flexible in the way they work and to create better integration and collaboration.
