Samsung is going to launch a new file-sharing app that will allow users to transfer their files to all kinds of devices.
The app will be known as “Dropship”, which is a module of the Samsung good lock. Good Lock is an important app that makes capabilities available that aren’t by default for practically all Galaxy smartphone customers. Over the past few years, Samsung has added countless Good Lock modules, often handing them out after the yearly One UI software update.
The service is currently available to users only in South Korea, however, it is expected that the feature will be made available widely in the next few weeks. The feature is said to be available only for Samsung devices on One UI 5.0 (Android 13).
Unlike Samsung’s Quick Share or Google’s Nearby Share, Dropship is not a fast file-sharing service but rather can be categorized as a one-stop web transfer shop like WeTransfer.
Dropship enables users to share up to 5GB of data every day by uploading files from the host device and creating a QR code that recipients may scan to download the content. Having the app or a registered Samsung account is not a requisite. For security purposes, users can add a timer for the expiration of the link or QR code. Additionally, Dropship will also allow users to access other cloud storage services like Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Google Photos, and so on.
