Sennheiser has released a new set of professional headphones for mixing, editing, and mastering. The HD 400 PRO studio reference headphones are an excellent choice for creators looking for realistic and precise sound reproduction when evaluating their audio mixes. The HD 400 PRO has a lightweight open-back design with soft velour ear pads to make extended sessions more pleasant. The headphones come with both coiled and straight detachable cords, allowing you to customise your listening experience.

The HD 400 PRO are Sennheiser’s new reference-grade studio headphones

“We are happy to introduce the first open studio headphones in Sennheiser’s PRO line,” commented Gunnar Dirks, Product Manager, Professional Audio.

He added, “When editing and mixing, you need detail and honesty, and this is what the HD 400 PRO will give you. Thanks to their linear, high-resolution reproduction, these headphones are a reliable reference to create outstanding audio mixes.”

Designed for accuracy

The HD 400 PRO has a frequency response range of 6 to 38,000 hertz, giving music creators complete control over their mix. Sennheiser’s 120-ohm transducers include a diaphragm composed of an unique polymer blend, which, when combined with powerful driver magnets, produces a deeper, yet completely clear and well-defined bass. The distortion is less than 0.05 percent (measured at 1kHz, 90dB SPL).

The HD 400 PRO faithfully reproduces audio beyond the audible frequency range, allowing you unrestricted access to delicate harmonics and ambiance in your music while revealing a strong, expressive low-end.

Designed for spaciousness

The HD 400 PRO’s headphone transducers are set at a little angle, meticulously reproducing the ideal triangle listening position while listening to monitor loudspeakers in a recording studio. Furthermore, the HD 400 PRO’s open-back design allows for natural sound transmission, free of the acoustic devices required in closed-back designs. Both aspects contribute to a broad and spacious soundstage that is neutral and transparent, allowing audio producers to work with confidence knowing that their final mix will be appropriately transferred to listeners.

Designed for comfort

The HD 400 PRO headphones are extremely comfortable, allowing you to work for longer periods of time. The earcups are held in place by a delicately constructed ultra-light frame that gently cradle the ears with minimal pressure. Soft velour earpads allow users to concentrate on projects for long periods of time, while the open, circumaural design allows ears to stay cool even during long mixing sessions.

Part of Dear Reality’s monitoring plugins

The HD 400 PRO can be utilised with Dear Reality’s headphone monitoring plugins, which use advanced spatial audio technology to create a virtual mix room with precisely crafted acoustics. The headphones are already part of dearVR MIX’sSpatial Headphone Compensation feature, and dearVR MONITOR integration will be available by the end of the year.
