Sharjah Open Innovation Lab launches ‘Innovators Camp’

The Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), in association with the Sharjah Education Council, has launched the “Innovators Camp” for students at the Sharjah Open Innovation Lab within the Park.

The camp whose duration is of 3 weeks will provide professional and training programmes which include unique workshops on the theme of sustainability and artificial intelligence based on skills acquisition and experiential and cognitive learning.

The programme has attracted 40 students who will learn how to develop solutions to various problems and challenges, and how to make prototype products using advanced tools.

The programme, according to Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SRTI Park, symbolises the park’s aim to teach the next generation of students about modern technologies and give them access to practical training on the newest and most cutting-edge tools and equipment across a variety of sectors in one place.

Al Mahmoudi said “SRTIP plays the role of an economic catalyst for knowledge, innovation and entrepreneurship, in line with the rising standing of the UAE as a global centre for the fourth industrial revolution, by contributing to shaping the future sectors, led by robots, drones, 3D printing and self-driving transportation, as well as advancing the path of scientific, applied and technological using Internet of Things and big data.”

He added “Developing human capital is one of the main strategic objectives of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, and we are proud to play a pivotal role in grooming the next generation of specialists, professionals in additive manufacturing, and experts in modern technology.”

Sharjah Open Innovation Lab is intended to bring multinational businesses in various areas to a single location while also giving students, researchers, and innovators access to the most recent technology and cutting-edge equipment in a variety of fields and specialisations at a reasonable cost.

The lab works as an incubator for startups and innovative businesses, offering a place that is inclusive of creativity and allows for innovation and allows the businesses to exchange materials and learn new skills and focus on engaging participants in the learning content, and also allowing schools and universities to be a part from this project.
