Security leaders need a solution that will cover legacy on-premises tools and cloud services, as a SD-WAN on its own isn’t enough. SD-WAN systems are essentially routing services, but as more data and applications move to the cloud, additional functions are required to keep traffic secure.

5G IoT devices will generate massive volumes of data that can be stolen, destroyed, or manipulated. Virtual networks customized for specific sectors and organizations will encourage new targeted threats against them. New software and hardware supply chains will most likely lead to the introduction of untrustworthy components in the 5G ecosystem.

Given the precipitous nature of the pandemic, organizations have had very little time to prepare for such large-scale remote work, let alone think about how to secure ‘work from home’ users. These remote workers still need to access enterprise applications in the cloud, and work with and store corporate data on their devices.
