TIER has added Bahrain to its Middle East portfolio. The company has set foot in Manama with the deployment of its e-scooter fleet in several places. This move was made as part of TIER’s continuous Middle East development ambitions, which were made possible by a partnership with Bahrain’s governmental authority, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT). TIER’s newest market entry into Bahrain makes it the company’s third Middle Eastern market.

TIER is  Europe’s first company in its field to achieve carbon neutrality in January 2020, setting industry sustainability norms. TIER has adopted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its sustainability framework. It has set an ambitious target for reducing emissions and offsetting the remaining CO2 produced as part of its commitment to support the battle against climate change.

TIER’s objective is to “transform mobility for the better,” and it wants to help MTT achieve its goal of strengthening the micro-mobility industry in Bahrain by providing the country with resources the latest generation of e-scooters and e-bikes in the market.

Around Manama, there are both residential and commercial areas. The Berlin-based company’s local staff has worked closely with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) to guarantee that the e-scooters operate smoothly and with the highest levels of safety.

Since their entrance in the region in 2019, the company has grown its footprint to three countries: the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and now Bahrain, with operations in four cities: Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Doha, and Manama, with ambitions to expand even further across the Middle East in the future years.

Commenting on TIER’s launch in Bahrain, Amir Melad, General Manager Middle East for TIER, said: “We are proud to enter Bahrain as our third country in the Middle East and will continue to expand our micro-mobility services to new territories in the MENA region to foster greener cities. With TIER’s cutting-edge e-scooters and e-bikes, residents in Manama can experience an eco-friendly, convenient and refreshing way of moving around the city.”

“The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) has set out extensive master plans to facilitate micro-mobility within the country and TIER aims to support these policies by introducing new modes of transportation such as e-scooters and e-bikes. TIER has been licensed by the MTT to operate in Bahrain and reinforce the ministry’s vision in developing micro-mobility within the Kingdom.”

“We are also very grateful for the immense support we have received from Bahrain’s Economic Development Board (EDB). It is great to see the efforts they are making in helping international companies, such as TIER, establish in Bahrain,” added Amir.
