At its cutting-edge innovation lab, “The NextGen Center,” Zayed University (ZU) hosted officials of the Dubai government to explore the potential for collaboration on research in cutting-edge technologies related to the strategic priorities of the UAE and the 17 UN Global Goals.
University–industry-Government collaboration for the development of innovation is vitally important in helping to create a strong and sustained innovation ecosystem both locally and nationally. Innovation is a key driver of economic growth, increased productivity, and job creation and is at the heart of the UAE’s strategic priorities, especially as the nation transitions to a knowledge-based economy.
The NextGen centre is supported by global partners like SAP, IBM, Cisco, and Microsoft, alongside leading startups and government entities and serves as a key part of this innovation ecosystem.
Government, industry, as well as students, are beneficiary of this method as it offers important research that lead to technological solutions that tackle real-world industry issues. The students get valuable training and experience in the latest technologies like cyber security, programming, and the application of Artificial Intelligence when they work on research that tackles real-world challenges.

The Center provides chances for students to earn professional training certification and supports the placement of our students in internships with Zayed University partners, giving students a competitive advantage when looking for jobs in the future.
