Ericsson, in collaboration with the New York Academy of Sciences and in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, is launching an exclusive program aimed at giving local youth in Oman a glimpse into the world of IoT and new technologies by the end of 2023.

Abdullah Al Balushi, Country Manager of Ericsson Oman says: “This exclusive program encourages the youth to explore, deepens their knowledge and enables them to take action to solve real-world problems using scientific grounds and technology, as well as developing vital research, innovation, and networking skills.”

Students will compete to find solutions to some of the virtual difficulties in the realm of the Internet of Things that are fundamentally relevant to establishing smart cities, such as energy efficiency, health, transportation, and data security, while also developing research and innovation skills.

Every year, 100 Omani youngsters between the ages of 13 and 17 are given the opportunity to undergo hands-on training and compete in a virtual innovation competition tailored exclusively for Oman.

The curriculum will last one academic semester and will include a free and flexible hours schedule. Students will be separated into groups and each group will be allocated an academic supervisor who will assist them in completing their study and submitting scientific materials via the Academy’s platform.

Students can apply for the program via https://coe.ipm.om, which is run by the Center of Excellence for Advanced Communications Technologies and the Internet of Things.

Select “Junior Academy” from the list of possible programs on the “Digital Skills Program” page, then fill out the registration form. Following the completion of the form, the student will receive an e-mail with vital instructions on how to finish the registration procedures using the Academy’s link and reference code “Ericsson.” When completing the registration processes in the particular form for the programme on the New York Academy of Sciences website, the student must include the relevant referral code.
