UAE to empower coders skill in collaboration with Microsoft

Microsoft has partnered with the UAE government to empower developers to realize the nation’s digital visions and potential. Through a special series of events in support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai National Program initiative ‘UAE Codes.’

The curated series of workshops and courses, powered by Azure, applications, and cloud-led development, will further increase the capabilities of coders and programmers to nurture and breed a new generation of talent to ensure the UAE’s digital adventures have a bright future.

 “Our continued partnership with Microsoft has made significant strides, placing the crucial role of coders to the forefront,” said Saqr bin Ghalib, Director of the Artificial Intelligence, Prime Minister’s Office, UAE.

He added, “Highlighting the achievements and contributions of IT professionals supports the nationwide efforts of attracting a new generation of programmers and coders to the UAE. UAE Codes will serve as a constant reminder of how strongly focused we are on investing in the development of human capital and creating a thriving environment for homegrown talent.”

The new series of developer events, which Microsoft supports, recognizes developers’ critical role in supporting the nation’s ambition for growth and transformation. ‘UAE Codes’ coincides with the nation’s growth plan and Fifty-Year Charter, complementing other government and Microsoft programs such as the National Programme for Coders, OMAC, National Programme for AI, and Cloud Society, as well as Microsoft’s Tomohprogamme.

 “It is an honour to not only support the UAE in advancing its digital agenda but to enable its leading coders and programmers, who are paving the path for a stronger digital government,” said Sayed Hashish, General Manager, Microsoft UAE.

He added, “According to recent reports, the digital economy in the UAE accounted for about 4.4 per cent of GDP in 2019, and it is estimated that this percentage will likely more than double on account of the government’s foresight and active support for a skilled workforce. We look forward to creating more significant opportunities for IT professionals and collaborations between the government and other organizations working towards a better future for the UAE.”

Microsoft’s goal and mission to enable every person and organization in the UAE and throughout the world to accomplish more includes skilling. Microsoft has participated in over 10 engagements with One Million Arab Coders in the last year alone, including over 45,000 engineers from throughout the region. This effort, powered by Cloud Society, improved app development, machine learning, learning from data platforms, and the complexities of IoT, educating Arab youth for the modern era’s language: coding.

The day of the first electronic government in the area, established by Sheikh Mohammed 20 years ago on October 29, 2001, is also commemorated on ‘UAE Codes’ Day, October 29th. Coding and programming have been a catalyst for innovation, creativity, technological and scientific progress, economic growth, and the nation’s long-term goals since its inception.
