Reports indicate that some iPhones manufactured between Oct 2020 to Apr 2021 may have problems taking phone calls due to faulty speakers caused by an issue involving a component that failed in the receiver. Due to this, Apple has started offering a repair program for very few iPhones 12 and 12 Pro units with a faulty earpiece that doesn’t produce sound during a call. The issue will be fixed free of charge for two years after the first retail sale if your phone was made between October 2020 and April 2021. The iPhone 12 mini or the iPhone 12 pro max are not included in this service as these iPhones use different receiver hardware.
The customer who takes a faulty Apple iPhone 12 to the service center should be aware that a screen repair fee will apply when the device has a damaged screen. Your broken screen must be repaired before your receiver can be repaired by service center workers. Furthermore, Apple states that “Your iPhone will be examined prior to receiving any service.”. In the next step, Apple will investigate whether the issue persists due to faulty components or due to the owner’s error. A free repair is not available if the owner damages the earpiece by accident. Free repair programs are available in countries across the globe. Thankfully this issue is only present for a very small number of users. In short, if your iPhone is having a faulty speaker issue, you can get it fixed for free now, just take it to the nearest apple store or service center and they can assist you.
