Nutanix Cloud Platform will provide improved data services for unstructured and structured data. The brand announced new capabilities in its Nutanix® Cloud Platform to help customers simplify their data management and increase the performance of their critical database and big data workloads.
The Nutanix Cloud Platform will provide unstructured data tiering from on-premises to cloud, as well as Nutanix Data Lens, a new unstructured data governance service, with up to a 2x storage performance increase for database workloads and 3x for big data workloads without requiring complex reconfiguration. Furthermore, database service Nutanix Era now supports database engines like as PostgreSQL®, MySQL®, Microsoft® SQL Server, and Oracle® Database in hybrid multicloud settings with one-click storage scaling and robust role-based access control.
“Customers require a variety of ways to store data一both structured and unstructured一and are looking for ways to simplify management without needing to rely on different vendors to do so,” said Rajiv Mirani, Chief Technology Officer at Nutanix.
Also added, “The new features in the Nutanix Cloud Platform extend our data centric innovation to high performance applications to deliver a unified platform with comprehensive data services for all workloads and all variety of data.”
Customers that want to upgrade their IT infrastructure and run large-scale databases will be able to do so without having to make significant adjustments to their database storage configuration, resulting in a performance boost of up to 2x. Customers will also benefit from lower storage latency thanks to hardware advancements like Intel® Optane technology combined with Nutanix’s data placement preference.
Furthermore, Nutanix is making data analytics workloads, such as Hadoop® and SAS® Grid workloads, much easier to run. The Nutanix platform now has a new replication factor storage mode that speeds up data processing by up to 3x while lowering expenses. Finally, Nutanix Objects, the company’s S3 compliant object storage solution, may be used to build data lakes with high-performance petabyte-scale storage. Customers using modern analytics applications like Apache Spark will benefit from S3 Select and optimised S3A support, which will drastically improve query and large batch processing speed.
Era, Nutanix’s database service, handles the most popular database engines across hybrid multicloud settings, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Database. Customers can now easily and quickly scale database storage online with Era, reducing days or weeks of work to a single click. Customers can also use role-based access control to simply implement their security and compliance standards, as well as securely share access to databases and database administration operations. Finally, Era now supports multi-region failover, providing improved resilience via a highly available database-as-a-service.
Nutanix has released Nutanix Data Lens, a new cloud service meant to assist clients manage their unstructured data expansion and protect it from security threats. Nutanix Data Lens will simplify data lifecycle management and protect against ransomware attacks by detecting and blocking suspicious files and alerting on anomalous activity by providing a global view with insights into unstructured data stored on Nutanix unified storage, whether on-premises or in the public cloud, including access patterns, data age, data types, and more.
Nutanix will also assist clients in managing unstructured data expansion by adding native support for data tiering to Nutanix Objects, AWS S3, and Azure blob storage, as well as to manage disaster recovery for file shares on Nutanix Files with 1-min Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and self-service restore.

Customers may now take advantage of new Nutanix Era features. In the Nutanix Cloud Platform, there is now more support for database and big data applications, as well as unstructured data management tools.
