Focussing on the revolution in the shipping and logistics of the shipping industry, the 2022 Saudi Maritime Congress will be held where the solutions won’t only be about Saudi Arabia but the whole Gulf Cooperation Council.
The event will take place on September 28 and 29 in Dammam, and will include an exhibition with over 50 exhibitors. The SMC is the largest international shipping logistics event in Saudi Arabia.
Some of the world’s leading logistics and maritime companies get to demonstrate amazing and cutting-edge technology.
The focus of the conference will be on how to improve the industry’s digitization and use of applications and big data, such as battery-powered ships, cutting-edge sensors on board ships, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
The companies attending the event will also discuss how technology can impact operational efficiencies.
The conference will bring in professionals and executives to introduce and educate the industry on the importance of new technologies.
“Data and technology are essential components to maximize the industry’s operational efficiency and catalyze its drive toward decarbonization,” said Chris Greenwood, ABS’s regional director of business development for the Middle East and Africa.
He also stated that technology played an important role in keeping industry operations running during the pandemic, such as remotely controlled underwater vehicles and robots assisting in inspection certification.
“So, these solutions are truly valuable to the sector, and we must discuss their development and use in the future for the industry’s operations,” Greenwood said.
The event also aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, in which the country aspires to become a regional technological hub.
“Through various digitalization-focused segments, we aim to cement the Kingdom’s position as a regional and global trade hub by enhancing port standards with the help of technology,” said Chris Morley, Group Director of Maritime Events at Informa Markets.
