Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has unveiled HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G, designed to accelerate and simplify the deployment and management of private 5G networks. This innovative solution aims to provide reliable wireless coverage across extensive campus and industrial environments, unlocking new use cases for private cellular networks.
As part of its secure edge-to-cloud portfolio expansion, HPE Aruba Networking now stands as the only global enterprise infrastructure vendor offering comprehensive Wi-Fi and private 5G solutions. This positions the company to help sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, public venues, and education overcome complex connectivity challenges in large and remote sites. The new private 5G solution also complements Wi-Fi by enhancing productivity and innovation, expanding AI data capture and delivery capabilities, and facilitating the creation of AI data lakes and inference solutions.
“Enterprise and industrial customers need reliable wireless coverage in demanding environments, including large outdoor areas, fast-moving clients, and deterministic access in dedicated spectrum,” said Stuart Strickland, Wireless CTO, HPE Aruba Networking. “Traditional private cellular network approaches are too complex. Leveraging our wireless innovation history, we enable new private cellular applications by integrating Athonet core cellular solutions with our enterprise networking strengths.”
HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G also empowers communications service providers (CSPs) to swiftly deploy private 5G networks for their clients. This integrated solution complements Wi-Fi-based managed services, enabling telco customers to tap into the growing private cellular market and generate new revenue streams.
Key features of HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G include:
– Comprehensive end-to-end offering with a 4G/5G core, HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers, SIM/eSIM cards, 4G/5G small cells, and a management dashboard.
– New 4G/5G small cell radios providing indoor/outdoor coverage without third-party management tools.
– Simplified cloud-native management and automation for subscriber management, deployment, and monitoring, with future integration plans for HPE Aruba Networking Central.
– Enhanced AI data capture and delivery for building AI data lakes and activating inference solutions.
– Interoperability with shared spectrum for private enterprise use, including CBRS spectrum in the US, and globally where regulatory frameworks allow from 2025.
– Pre-integrated, tested solution for easy deployment of enterprise private 4G/5G networks.
– Quick deployment capability in under 30 minutes with zero-touch provisioning and configuration wizards.
This launch follows HPE’s 2023 acquisition of private cellular technology provider Athonet, which has 15 years of expertise and 500 enterprise deployments in private cellular solutions. Athonet’s technology has been successfully deployed in industries such as mobile operators, hospitals, airports, ports, utilities, government, and public safety organizations.
“HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G addresses the complexity, cost, control, and management challenges of private network deployments,” said Patrick Filkins, Senior Research Manager, IoT and Telecommunications, IDC. “HPE Aruba Networking integrates private cellular networks within an enterprise’s existing IT framework, streamlining management through familiar tools and dynamic device policy assignment across 4G/5G, Wi-Fi, and wired LAN networks.”
“Many private network solutions are too complex for even large enterprises with internal network expertise,” added Tom Rebbeck, Partner, Analysys Mason. “We expect customers to embrace solutions that simplify private network deployment and management.”
