Huawei Seeds for the Future 2024 Kicks Off in Uzbekistan

Huawei, in collaboration with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies and various educational and vocational institutions, has launched the regional finals of its Seeds for the Future program. The event, hosted in Tashkent, brings together 150 students from 14 countries across the Middle East and Central Asia.

The opening ceremony, attended by senior government officials and industry leaders, underscored the importance of this flagship CSR initiative. H.E. Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, highlighted the program’s role in fostering global ICT collaboration and digital talent development.

Shunli Wang, Vice President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, expressed excitement about the initiative, emphasizing the value of public-private partnerships in nurturing future ICT leaders. He encouraged participants to leverage this opportunity to showcase their creativity and drive impactful innovations.

Since its inception in 2008, Huawei’s Seeds for the Future has engaged over 18,000 students from 141 countries, supported by more than 360 senior officials and heads of state. The program collaborates with over 500 universities to cultivate new generations of ICT professionals.

Participants in this year’s event will engage in intensive training sessions and workshops on advanced ICT technologies, including 5G, AI, and cloud computing. They will also participate in the Tech4Good competition, aimed at addressing social issues through technological innovation. The competition will see two top teams advancing to the Global Finals in China next year.

The week-long event will also feature cultural activities, including the “Global Village” at Amity University of Tashkent, where students will share their countries’ heritage and traditions. This initiative not only promotes ICT skills but also fosters cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.
