UiPath’s 2024 Report Reveals AI-Driven Automation Growth

UiPath, a global enterprise automation and AI software company, has published its annual State of the Automation Professional Report, offering insights into the current and future trends of automation in the workplace. The 2024 report, based on a survey of 1,909 automation professionals and students, highlights that this year has seen a major shift towards integrating AI into automation processes, with 90% of respondents already using or planning to adopt AI within the next year.

The report reveals that increased productivity is the primary motivation behind AI adoption, with 66% of professionals citing it as their key reason. AI is being used across various tasks, including writing code (67%), generating documentation (57%), and testing (47%). The findings also show a clear trend in the growth of automation teams, as 61% of companies have expanded their automation workforce in the past year, and 81% of respondents believe their organizations will hire more automation professionals in the near future. This rapid growth emphasizes the need for ongoing training to ensure professionals can fully leverage automation tools.

According to the report, 70% of automation professionals are satisfied with their careers and expect to stay in the industry for at least five more years. Additionally, 86% believe their current roles will help them advance in future career moves. The future of automation looks bright, with over 84% of respondents expressing confidence in the growth of the software automation space, and 80% expecting their roles to become increasingly important within their organizations over the next year.

The report also indicates that automation is maturing, with 60% of respondents stating that their organizations have been using automation tools for over five years, a significant increase from 47% in the previous year. Automation is being applied across multiple departments, with accounting and finance (67%), IT (53%), and operations (51%) being the most common areas.

AI integration is becoming a core part of automation workflows, with 81% of respondents reporting they use AI tools in their projects at least a few times per week. Only 19% find it difficult to incorporate AI into their automation processes, reflecting a growing familiarity with AI-powered tools.

Agi Garaba, Chief People Officer at UiPath, emphasized the transformative potential of AI and automation, stating that automation professionals are benefiting from integrating AI into their projects. She added that the combination of business automation and AI is driving productivity and empowering professionals to advance their careers.
