The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is proudly participating as the Main Sponsor at the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress 2024, the premier global event for smart mobility systems. Hosted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the congress runs from September 16-20, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

At its dedicated stand (C3, Hall 5), DEWA is spotlighting its leading green mobility initiatives, including the Electric Vehicle (EV) Green Charger program. This initiative is pivotal in supporting the shift towards sustainable transport by offering world-class EV charging infrastructure.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, emphasized that hosting the ITS World Congress reflects Dubai’s prominent role in the smart mobility sector and its commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and Big Data. These advancements are integral to the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030.

Al Tayer highlighted, “Our initiatives align with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city globally. We are also dedicated to the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which includes expanding our EV charging infrastructure and reducing carbon emissions.”

Since its inception in 2014, DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative has set the benchmark for public electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the region. With over 700 charging stations, including more than 400 operated by DEWA, the initiative has significantly contributed to the rise in electric vehicles in Dubai, now exceeding 30,000 and projected to double in the coming years.

The ITS World Congress features DEWA’s latest developments, including the “EV Green Charger User Dashboard.” This new tool allows registered users to track their charging data, manage billing, and locate nearby Green Chargers through DEWA’s website or mobile app. The platform also supports non-registered users with a Guest feature for convenient vehicle charging.

Additionally, DEWA is showcasing the Electric Vehicle Community Hub (www.dubaievhub.ae), an online resource offering updates, government strategies, and incentives related to green mobility.

Established in 1994, the ITS World Congress is supported by ITS Europe, ITS America, and ITS Asia-Pacific. This year marks the first time the congress is being hosted outside Europe, North America, Australia, and East Asia.
