Veeam® Software, the provider in Data Resilience, has announced an integration with Palo Alto Networks, the global cybersecurity compny. This collaboration aims to streamline security operations and bolster data resilience for organizations by integrating Veeam’s new Apps with Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XSIAM and Cortex XSOAR.

As the first Palo Alto Networks partner to design and develop a dedicated data collector, dashboards, and reports for Cortex XSIAM, Veeam enhances its position in the cybersecurity landscape. This integration responds to the growing necessity for a unified approach in safeguarding data backups and countering cyber threats.

“Cyber threats are an ever-present challenge,” said Dave Russell, SVP of Strategy at Veeam. “Our integration with Palo Alto Networks provides our 550,000 customers with advanced tools to secure their backups and accelerate responses to cyberattacks, ensuring a robust and rapid recovery process.”

The rise of ransomware attacks, which now target 96% of organizational backups according to the Veeam 2024 Ransomware Trends Report, underscores the urgent need for improved data protection. Traditional tools often fall short, leading to alert overload and manual processing challenges for security teams.

The Veeam and Palo Alto Networks integration addresses these issues by centralizing, scaling, and automating data monitoring and incident response. The integration combines Palo Alto Networks’ AI-driven security operations center (SOC) platform with Veeam’s premier recovery solutions to enhance the speed and effectiveness of cyberattack responses.

Pamela Cyr, VP of Technical Partnerships at Palo Alto Networks, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “Combining our AI-driven SOC platform with Veeam’s data resilience capabilities empowers organizations to swiftly address threats and maintain the integrity of their critical data. This collaboration highlights our joint commitment to equipping organizations with tools to proactively combat cyber threats and enhance their security posture.”

The integration introduces two new Veeam apps – one for Cortex XSIAM and another for Cortex XSOAR – using a bi-directional API to monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents affecting business data and backups. The Cortex XSIAM app provides a centralized view of data and backup security, while the Cortex XSOAR app facilitates regular API queries and monitoring of significant security events. Both apps are available at no additional cost to Veeam Data Platform Advanced and Premium customers.

Key Benefits of the Veeam and Palo Alto Networks Integration:

– Centralized Security Operations: Gain a unified view of security operations across the environment, enhancing threat detection and situational awareness.

– Streamlined Configuration: Benefit from pre-configured monitoring and security dashboards for easy setup and onboarding.

– Automated Incident Response: Reduce alert fatigue and accelerate incident response with AI-driven automation for real-time threat management.

– Scalable Security Strategy: Manage enterprise-scale environments efficiently with automated and AI-supported monitoring.

– Regulatory Compliance: Meet recovery objectives and compliance requirements with automated ransomware recovery solutions.

Frank Dickson, Group Vice President at IDC’s Security & Trust Practice, commented on the partnership: “Veeam and Palo Alto Networks are simplifying the integration process for enterprises managing numerous security products. Their collaboration enables proactive threat identification and comprehensive data protection, covering all aspects of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.”

The new Veeam Apps integrated with Cortex XSIAM and Cortex XSOAR will be featured at the VeeamON Data Resilience Summit, occurring virtually on October 1 for EMEA and the Americas, and October 2 for Asia.

The new Veeam App for Cortex XSOAR is now available for download in the Cortex Marketplace, with the Cortex XSIAM integration app coming soon.
