Dubai Chamber of Commerce, part of the Dubai Chambers umbrella, has announced the agenda for its upcoming Sustainability Week 2024, set to run from October 7 to 11. The five-day event will focus on the pivotal role of digitisation and artificial intelligence (AI) in promoting sustainable business practices.

Organised annually by the Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business, this year’s programme will highlight how advanced technologies can drive sustainability efforts in the private sector. The event aims to explore cutting-edge ideas that enhance the use of AI and digital solutions for developing practical sustainability solutions and accelerating the adoption of sustainable practices.

Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, stated, “We are dedicated to empowering the private sector to make meaningful contributions to sustainable development. Sustainability Week 2024 will spotlight the latest trends and innovations, particularly in leveraging AI and advanced technologies, to develop impactful sustainability strategies across all industries.”

The week kicks off with a seminar examining the influence of AI and digital technologies on sustainability. The first day will feature a keynote address by Ahmad Bin Byat, Founding Chairman and CEO of Zaina Investments and Vice Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. A panel of experts will discuss the role of AI and digital solutions in achieving sustainable development goals, alongside sessions on improving supply chain efficiency and recycling efforts through innovative technologies.

One of the event’s key highlights is a special forum on digital strategies for the circular economy. This interactive session will explore the use of AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data analytics to boost resource efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance long-term sustainability.

Additionally, the Chamber will host the 12th Arabia CSR and Sustainability Forum as part of the week-long event. Organised by the Arabia CSR Network under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy, the forum will address the theme ‘Sustainable Prosperity: Reorienting for a Balanced Future’.

Sustainability Week 2024 promises to be a key platform for the exchange of best practices and innovative approaches to sustainable development, positioning Dubai as a leader in responsible business practices.
