A recent study by Censuswide, commissioned by Palo Alto Networks, reveals that 97.6% of CEOs and senior managers in the UAE are planning to increase their investments in artificial intelligence (AI) for cybersecurity. This surge in investment comes as organizations face a growing number of cyberattacks.

The survey, conducted between September 18-25, 2024, among 250 CEOs and senior business leaders in the UAE, shows that 63% of respondents reported a rise in cyberattacks compared to 2023, while 14% indicated no change. However, despite the increase in threats, 94% of respondents expressed confidence in the ability of AI tools to effectively detect or mitigate cyber threats compared to traditional cybersecurity solutions.

Of the organizations surveyed, 90% have already integrated AI into their cybersecurity strategies, with 52% reporting extensive AI deployment and 38% having limited implementations.

Opinions on AI’s impact varied: 42% of respondents believe AI will enhance speed and efficiency through automation, 39% see AI’s primary role in threat detection, and 35% think it will improve vulnerability management.

“While it’s promising to see a strong focus on AI investments, organizations must adopt a fully integrated approach to maximize AI’s potential in cybersecurity,” said Ercan Aydin, Regional Vice President, Middle East and Africa (MEA), at Palo Alto Networks. “This approach helps reduce confusion and allows businesses to effectively stay ahead of evolving cyber threats.”

Despite the confidence in AI, the research highlights concerns around investment barriers, with 45% citing cost, 45% mentioning complexity of integration, 41% noting uncertainty about ROI, and 30% questioning clear business benefits.

Additionally, 50% of respondents expressed concerns about privacy issues related to AI, 48% worried about potential misuse of the technology, 46% highlighted integration challenges, and 45% were concerned about costs.

Palo Alto Networks will showcase its Precision AI™ cybersecurity technology at GITEX Global 2024, offering live demos of its advanced AI-driven security solutions. The event takes place from October 14-18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, with Palo Alto Networks located in Hall 7, Stand B40 and Hall 25, Stand D30.

The research by Censuswide was conducted in accordance with the Market Research Society and ESOMAR principles.
