Abu Dhabi Shines with AI Innovations at GITEX GLOBAL 2024

Abu Dhabi’s innovation champions and tech pioneers unveiled groundbreaking services and solutions set to reshape the future at GITEX GLOBAL 2024. As the Emirate solidifies its global leadership in the emerging AI economy, local companies presented a range of AI-driven advancements aimed at driving digital transformation across the nation and beyond. Highlights included the unveiling of next-gen police vehicles, autonomous racing cars, and AI-assisted chest X-rays.

Among the standout displays was Abu Dhabi Police’s introduction of the ‘Magnum MK1,’ an autonomous bulletproof patrol vehicle. This state-of-the-art 4×4 boasts a 1.5-ton payload capacity, designed for patrol, surveillance, and secure transport of detainees, reaching speeds of up to 150 km/h. Key features include advanced surveillance with 360-degree camera coverage and a specialized prisoner cell and monitoring system, marking a significant advancement in digitalization.

The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) showcased its upgraded EAV24, a next-generation autonomous racing car, set to compete in next April’s Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit. Made from sustainable bio-composite materials, the sleek design is inspired by digital algorithms and AI-driven data patterns.

Reda Nidhakou, Acting CEO of VentureOne, stated, “VentureOne is dedicated to bringing the Technology Innovation Institute’s groundbreaking tech to market through ambitious tech ventures — from research to reality, and from Abu Dhabi to the world.” At GITEX, the organization introduced AI71, an initiative developing enterprise AI solutions powered by open-source models, focusing on TII’s Falcon. Nidhakou hinted at three more ventures to be announced in the coming months, emphasizing their commitment to empowering individuals with AI, post-quantum cybersecurity, and autonomous robotics.

The Technology Innovation Institute is at the forefront of generative AI with Falcon 180B, a powerful large language model currently leading the Hugging Face Leaderboard for pre-trained LLMs.

In a significant healthcare advancement, the Capital Health Screening Centre, backed by M42, announced plans to perform 2,000 AI-assisted chest X-rays to screen for TB — a tenfold increase compared to traditional methods.

As the world’s largest tech event, GITEX GLOBAL 2024 is opening doors for enterprises and governments to establish partnerships and embark on future-focused tech projects across key industries. The event seamlessly connects a vast network of tech gatherings, including GITEX EUROPE in Berlin, GITEX ASIA in Singapore, GITEX AFRICA in Morocco, and GITEX NIGERIA, fostering global collaboration and cross-continental innovation.

Running from October 14-18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), GITEX GLOBAL marks its record-breaking 44th edition in 2024, welcoming over 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups, 1,200 investors, and government representatives from more than 180 countries. On Wednesday, tens of thousands of visitors explored how Abu Dhabi is paving the way for the future AI economy, with local enterprises and startups leading the charge. This aligns with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and the UAE National Strategy for AI 2031, showcasing the local tech community’s commitment to advancing AI-driven socio-economic development.

The Department of Government Enablement introduced innovative products, including GovGPT, an AI-driven knowledge agent that assists government employees in accessing essential policies and information instantaneously. Additionally, TAMM 3.0, an integrated platform, was unveiled, offering a wide range of AI-enabled government services with personalized user experiences and over 800 seamless services. TAMM 3.0 features conversational voice capabilities, allowing users to interact using voice commands in both Arabic and English.

GITEX GLOBAL 2024 is set to redefine the tech landscape, positioning Abu Dhabi at the forefront of the AI revolution.
