The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has reached a major milestone by winning the prestigious International 30th SolarPACES Technology Innovation Award in Rome, Italy. The award honors DEWA’s groundbreaking technologies deployed in Phase IV of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, accepted the award.

This achievement highlights DEWA’s global leadership in the renewable energy sector, adding to its track record of international recognition. SolarPACES, under the International Energy Agency (IEA), has served as a collaborative network for the Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) industry since 1977. The annual SolarPACES conference, the leading global event for CSP technology and innovation, celebrates contributions to advancing renewable energy through awards that recognize pioneering technologies, promoting best practices and innovation across research, industry, and policy sectors.

“We are inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who seeks excellence in every field,” said Al Tayer. “Guided by this vision, we have adopted the latest clean energy technologies in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park. This supports our commitment to the UAE Net-Zero 2050 Strategy and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, with key milestones achieved ahead of schedule. This international recognition further validates DEWA’s leadership in clean energy.”

The fourth phase of the Solar Park represents the world’s largest single-site CSP plant, with an investment of AED 15.8 billion and a capacity of 950 MW. This phase incorporates three hybrid technologies: a 100 MW Solar Central Tower with 15 hours of storage, 600 MW from Parabolic Troughs with 12 hours of storage, and 250 MW from Solar PV Panels. DEWA’s world records for the tallest solar tower (263.126 meters) and the largest thermal energy storage capacity (5,907 MWh) enable 24-hour solar energy production, earning recognition from Guinness World Records.

“DEWA consistently leads in key performance indicators globally, as verified by international consultants. Our awards reflect our unwavering commitment to excellence. With each achievement, we confidently progress toward building a sustainable future,” concluded Al Tayer.
