Space42, the UAE’s pioneering AI-powered SpaceTech company with a global presence, has teamed up with the UAE Ministry of Education to launch a dynamic educational campaign designed to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and space enthusiasts. The campaign is part of the pre-launch activities for Space42’s upcoming Thuraya 4 satellite, a cutting-edge mobility system aimed at enhancing global connectivity.
This initiative will invite students from Ministry of Education-run schools to visit Yahsat Space Services’ facilities across the UAE. As part of the ‘One World. Deeply Connected’ campaign, the tours will offer students hands-on learning experiences that align with the UAE’s STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) curriculum.
Ali Al Hashemi, CEO of Yahsat Space Services and Space42, expressed his excitement about the campaign, stating, “As we prepare to launch Thuraya 4, we are honored to work alongside the Ministry of Education to foster young scientists and contribute to the UAE’s National Space Strategy 2030. Through hands-on learning, partnerships, and community outreach, Space42 is committed to showcasing advancements in satellite technology and nurturing the talents that will drive the future of SpaceTech.”
The campaign will allow students to explore Yahsat’s satellite control center, engage with engineers, and participate in interactive workshops, presentations, and Q&A sessions, both in-person and virtually. These activities will give students a close look at the intricacies of satellite technology and operations.
Sulaiman Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Students’ Wellbeing Sector at the Ministry of Education, commended Space42’s commitment to integrating public school students into its initiatives, emphasizing the importance of space sciences in realizing the UAE’s national vision. Al Kaabi noted, “This collaboration with Space42 will deepen students’ knowledge in advanced sciences and space technology, empowering them to lead essential sectors and connect with the UAE’s achievements in space.”
Over six weeks in October and November 2024, Yahsat Space Services and Control Centre in Abu Dhabi will host students from grades 7 to 9, with one school visiting each week. Students will also tour the Thuraya gateway and offices in Sharjah, gaining insights into real-world applications of their STEM studies.
The initiative aims to inspire students to pursue careers in aerospace and technology by connecting them with the UAE’s accomplishments in space exploration, deepening their understanding of the UAE’s role in global space technology.
