The Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) has announced that its 2024 edition (#GMIS2024) will take place on December 5, 2024, as part of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Business Week (ADBW). Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the event is hosted by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO).
#GMIS2024, themed “Resilient by Design: The Next Frontier in Industrial Safety”, will unite government officials, industry leaders, and experts to enhance global safety frameworks. Discussions will focus on predictive maintenance, real-time risk detection, public-private partnerships, and advancing safety measures in industries through innovative technologies. The summit will explore key areas such as industrial safety, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
The event, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) and the Global Initiative for Industrial Safety (GIFIS), underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to innovation and industrial safety. The UAE capital continues to position itself as a global hub for collaboration, industrial excellence, and technological advancements.
His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, stated that hosting #GMIS2024 reflects the UAE’s strategy to strengthen the industrial sector and promote economic diversification. Dr. Al Jaber emphasized the importance of adopting advanced technologies to ensure a sustainable and resilient industrial environment. He also invited investors and manufacturers to participate in the Make it in the Emirates Forum, scheduled for May 19-22, 2025, at ADNEC, offering significant opportunities to showcase innovative products.
The “Manifesto for Global Industrial Safety”, a key outcome of the 2021 GMIS, will be officially launched during #GMIS2024. Developed in partnership with UNIDO, Lloyd’s Register Foundation, and the University of Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy Unit, the manifesto serves as a strategic framework to address safety risks using cutting-edge technology.
Hosting #GMIS2024 aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision to advance its industrial sector and bolster its role in driving economic growth. The emirate is focusing on building competitiveness in strategic industries, including advanced manufacturing, agritech, smart mobility, and space technology, while fostering sustainable practices and enabling localized production.
His Excellency Gerd Müller, UNIDO Director General, commended the UAE for prioritizing industrial safety and addressing unsafe working conditions globally. He highlighted the need for innovative technologies and collaboration to transform industries while ensuring worker safety.
