Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Ooredoo Qatar have joined forces to deploy the Ericsson Smart Connected Site solution, a strategic move aimed at boosting network energy efficiency and curbing carbon emissions.

Ericsson and Ooredoo Qatar have announced a five-year extension of their partnership to advance 5G connectivity in Qatar.

The infrastructure solutions used include Dell EMC's ScalelO, Unity XT Unified Storage, and the Dell EMC Integrated System for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI, which provides simplicity for infrastructure-as-a-service clients.

Nokia provides Ooredoo with cloud-native Core software, which will give the company zero-touch automation features that will help it scale and be more reliable. Ooredoo will introduce network slicing to develop and build new services spanning health, smart cities, banking, transportation, and public safety more quickly with Nokia Cloud Packet Core, Voice Core, Registers, Policy Controller, Signaling, and Cloud Platform.

Through Ooredoo Asia, a wholly-owned holding company, the Ooredoo Group currently owns a 65.0 percent stake in Indosat Ooredoo. CK Hutchison will receive 21.8 percent of the merged Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison business. PT Tiga Telekomunikasi Indonesia would receive 10.8 percent of the merged Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison business as a result of the Indosat and H3I merger.
