Acer has launched four new Chromebooks with cutting-edge technology, long-lasting designs, and a slew of features tailored to the educational market.
“The popularity of Chromebooks continues to grow thanks to the robust features in the Chrome Education Upgrade combined with advances in Chromebook design, features and technology,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc.
He added, “These new Acer Chromebooks deliver the foundational technology that help students strive for success at school, while also ensuring teachers and administrators have a powerful device for class preparation and IT management.”
Teachers and administrators can take advantage of the full capabilities of the Chromebook and Chrome OS with the Chrome Education upgrade, ensuring that pupils have a reliable, secure device to focus on learning. Furthermore, IT departments can manage them quickly with Zero-touch enrollment, which allows them to drop ship new Acer Chromebooks to their school sites and have them automatically enrol as soon as the end user connects to the internet.
The four new Chromebooks are all designed to survive the rigours of a busy school setting, with impact-resistant casings that comply with MIL-STD 810H specifications. They are protected from drops of up to 122 cm (48 ft) and can resist pressure of up to 60 kg (132.3 lbs) thanks to a shock-absorbent bumper and reinforced design. The Chromebooks’ displays can also be opened fully 180 degrees (360 degrees for the Spin variants), which helps protect the devices when the screen is handled, and a unique drainage system incorporated into their keyboards protects internal components from accidental water spills.
Mechanically anchored keys are also found on the Acer Chromebook Spin 311, Acer Chromebook 512, and Acer Chromebook 511, which are tough for curious students to remove but easy for IT personnel to fix or replace. They are additionally protected from wear and tear by wider brackets and stronger I/O ports.
All four new Chromebooks include an environmentally friendly OceanGlassTM touchpad created completely of abandoned ocean-bound plastic debris, demonstrating Acer’s dedication to sustainability. This trash not only helps to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in the ocean, but it also gives the touchpad a glass-like texture and responsive tactile input.
Three of the Chromebooks, the Acer Chromebook Spin 311, Acer Chromebook 512, and Acer Chromebook 511, also use post-consumer recycled polymers into their chassis design, demonstrating Acer’s dedication to sustainability.
The new Acer Chromebook 512 (C852) sports a 12-inch display with a productivity-boosting 3:2 aspect ratio, which gives students 18 percent more vertical space than a 16:9 display, allowing them to read more text, maps, images, and homework without having to scroll. A multi-touch panel with integrated capabilities is also available as an option.
With two built-in microphones and a camera with TNR technology for improved video quality, the Acer Chromebook 512 gives a great remote-learning experience. Furthermore, a blue glass IR-cut filter built into the camera module reduces the impact of background light flares (such as those caused by lamps or ceiling lights) on the user’s webcam.
The Acer Chromebook 511 (C734/C734T) is an 11.6-inch Chromebook with a standard or multi-touch display and a small, robust design that’s perfect for 1:1 programmes, technology laboratories, and wireless carts. Plus, with plastic coatings and compliance with the ASTM F963-16 Toy Safety Standard and UL/IEC 60950-1 standards, the Chromebook is safe and acceptable for even the youngest kids.
Because it is powered by the latest N-series Intel® processors, the Acer Chromebook 511 offers up to 12 hours of battery life and responsive performance. Dual microphones and a flare-reducing HD webcam allow students to take the classroom with them when they need to learn remotely. By assessing and exploiting information from many frames at the same time, Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) technology improves video quality even further, especially in low-light settings.
The Acer Chromebook 314 (C934/C934T) sports a huge 14-inch FHD IPS touchscreen display[] with slim 8.1 mm side bezels and an overall compact design, making it ideal for administrators, teachers, and older students who need to multitask for their classes and projects. The display has an anti-glare layer that allows it to be utilised in bright light, and it also has multi-touch capabilities.
The Chromebook 314 is a fantastic remote learning machine. A flare-reducing webcam with (TNR) technology improves video quality, while DTS Audio provides high-quality, distortion-free sound and two built-in microphones capture clear audio. Furthermore, the Chromebook 314 is equipped with the latest Intel® N-series CPUs, which provide outstanding performance and up to 10-hours of battery life.
The Acer Chromebook 311 (R722T/R723T) is a convertible and sturdy laptop designed for K-12 students who want to learn anywhere. Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla® Glass® protects its responsive 11.6-inch touch display, which is both durable and infused with ionic silver to resist the growth of odor- and stain-causing germs. It may be utilised in four different configurations thanks to a pair of 360-degree hinges, including clamshell mode for typing and presentation mode for displaying work in small groups.
The Chromebook’s MediaTek MT8183 CPU keeps students learning with efficient efficiency, contributing to a 15-hour battery life. When not in use, the HD webcam features a camera shutter for privacy. Depending on configuration, the Acer Chromebook 311 comes with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 (R723T) or Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 (R722T) for superb connectivity.
