The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), the world’s largest energy event, is gearing up for its landmark 40th edition from November 4-7, 2024, in Abu Dhabi. This year, ADIPEC will bring together the global energy industry to explore the critical roles of artificial intelligence (AI) and finance in accelerating the global energy transition toward a more sustainable future.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and hosted by ADNOC, ADIPEC 2024 is expected to attract over 184,000 attendees, including more than 1,800 innovators, experts, and leaders from the energy, AI, and technology sectors.
Tayba Al Hashemi, Chair of ADIPEC 2024 and CEO of ADNOC Offshore, highlighted the significance of the AI-energy nexus, stating, “AI needs energy, and energy needs AI. This connection will be a major focus of ADIPEC’s milestone 40th edition, where global leaders will discuss AI’s potential to transform economies and industries while promoting a just and equitable energy transition.”
The ADIPEC Strategic Conference will convene influential voices to explore how technological innovation can expedite the energy transition and emphasize the importance of cross-sector partnerships in achieving decarbonization.
Christopher Hudson, President of dmg events, commented, “Marking 40 years since its inception, ADIPEC 2024 will be the most ambitious edition yet. The international community will unite around the urgent need for decisive action to secure net zero. This event will showcase innovative technologies and influential voices, renewing the commitment to create a sustainable energy future for all.”
The newly introduced Digitalisation and Technology Conference will focus on how next-generation technologies, including AI, can unlock decarbonization and efficiency opportunities presented by Industry 4.0. The agenda will showcase advancements in new materials, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), while also addressing sustainable scaling of these technologies.
In addition, ADNOC will launch an inaugural exhibition called Energyai (Energy to the power of AI), highlighting the impact AI can have on the energy value chain and its increasing demand on global energy systems. An AI Conference will gather leaders from the energy, technology, and government sectors to develop a strategic roadmap for integrating AI into the energy landscape.
The Finance and Investment Conference will also debut at ADIPEC 2024, providing a platform for leaders from government, finance, and energy sectors to discuss the gap between capital flows and the investments necessary for a fair and equitable transition. The new Voices of Tomorrow Conference aims to connect future leaders from the Global North and South, fostering inclusivity in energy discussions.
The ADIPEC Leadership Roundtables will include exclusive discussions on the relationship between AI and energy, focusing on how AI can accelerate the development of a future-ready energy system.
The ADIPEC Exhibition will span 16 halls, featuring more than 2,200 exhibitors from the global energy ecosystem, including 54 national oil companies (NOCs), international oil companies (IOCs), national energy companies (NECs), and independent energy companies (IECs). The exhibition will showcase 30 dedicated country pavilions and four specialized industry areas focusing on decarbonization, digitalization, maritime logistics, and AI.
