Arab ICT Union adds Iraq as its new member

Bahrain-based Arab ICT Union (AICTU), announced Iraq as a member of the organisation which will be represented by the Iraqi Association for Information and Communication Technology making it the tenth Arab state in the union.

With academics and ICT specialists from the Arab region, the AICTU presently comprises Egypt, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine, Yemen, Jordan, and Lebanon in addition to the Kingdom of Bahrain, which serves as the organization’s headquarters.

With Iraq being a member of the union, the Union’s strategy is to widen its membership to other Arab countries that are seeing growth in the ICT sector.

According to Ubaydli Ubaydli, chairman of the AICTU, the objective is to encourage experience sharing among member nations and to contribute to the growth of the ICT industry in a way that fits the requirements of the Arab markets and keeps up with global trends.

He highlighted that Iraq has growth potential in the ICT sector, which will hasten the Union’s plan to launch a large project in the ICT sector that will contribute to the creation of pertinent Arab legislation and laws.

To increase the knowledge of union members, he also recommended increasing the spheres of collaboration, training, and experience sharing.
