In line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) is intensifying its efforts to enhance the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in sports. This initiative aligns with H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum’s vision to transform Dubai into a global hub for AI development and adoption.
A delegation of international AI experts, led by Microsoft, recently visited the Hamdan Sports Complex. This visit follows the Dubai International Artificial Intelligence Forum in Sport and is part of DSC’s ongoing mission to leverage AI for sports development. The delegation included prominent figures from the sports AI industry who reviewed the complex’s advanced facilities and discussed future events.
The Hamdan Sports Complex, designed to host various global sports events, impressed the delegation with its state-of-the-art infrastructure and eco-friendly technologies. The complex features advanced training equipment and digital infrastructure, supporting clubs and national teams in their training camps.
H.E. Naser Aman Al-Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of DSC, emphasized the council’s commitment to utilizing AI in sports. “Our efforts are constant to benefit from AI in the sports field,” he stated. “We collaborate with the biggest global companies to gain utmost benefits from the opportunities and resources available.”
The Dubai International Artificial Intelligence Forum in Sport, organized by DSC with Microsoft, continues the council’s initiatives, such as the 2019 Dubai Sports Artificial Intelligence Conference & Exhibition (DAIS). These forums aim to increase awareness and adoption of AI in sports, addressing data collection, performance enhancement, TV broadcasting, marketing, and fan engagement.
H.E. Al-Rahma highlighted the UAE’s leading role in AI adoption and the importance of investing in sports AI, supported by favorable government legislation. He concluded, “There is a convergence between the visions of DSC and Microsoft to enhance AI applications in sports in Dubai. We are confident in the success of this initiative, which will positively impact the sports sector.”
