Asiacell and Ericsson have extended their strategic cooperation to develop and strengthen LTE services in Iraq. Ericsson will modernize and expand Asiacell’s LTE network and provide Asiacell with the most up-to-date Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment from the Ericsson Radio System as part of the continuing project.
Amer Sunna, CEO and Managing Director of Asiacell, said: “Asiacell plays a vital role in raising the level of communications infrastructure in Iraq, that is why we ensure the latest technology readiness in everything we do.”
He added,” We are sure that our partnership with Ericsson will take our customers’ mobile experiences to a completely new level and help them realize the full promise of the Internet. Moreover, by enhancing our LTE network and offering the best and most advanced services, we aim to boost digitalization efforts across the country and preserve Iraq’s preparedness for the digital age”.
Kevin Murphy, Vice President and Head of Ericsson Levant Countries at Ericsson Middle East and Africa says: “Today’s new partnership with Asiacell marks an important milestone in supporting Asiacell enhancing their LTE services and bringing new communication capabilities across the country.”
He commented,” As network technology is becoming critical infrastructure for the development of any nation worldwide, we stay committed to continue supporting Asiacell in bringing the many possibilities of the next generation communication technologies to its customers”.
Ericsson’s renovation and expansion of Asiacell’s LTE network will boost the network’s capacity to satisfy increased demand for mobile broadband access and help Asiacell realize its regional market goals. Asiacell’s user experience will be improved, and spectrum efficiency will be maximised, thanks to Ericsson’s software and the latest RAN hardware. Furthermore, Ericsson’s Radio System (ERS) HW offers multi-technology and multi-band operations, which will meet Asiacell’s present and future requirements.
According to the Ericsson Mobility Report from June 2021, global LTE subscribers climbed by almost 100 million in the first quarter of 2021. Ericsson’s state-of-the-art technology will improve the overall user experience for LTE consumers and enable Asiacell to offer superior data services statewide in Iraq, as LTE networks were only recently established earlier this year.
With digital banking, data-driven financial systems, e-learning, and e-government services becoming more popular across the country, the demand for fast and reliable connectivity provided by LTE is becoming increasingly important. Furthermore, developing digital technologies that rely on 5G, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), will play a critical role in the near future.
Ericsson has had nearly ten-year cooperation with Asiacell, and the two have always worked together to improve communications in the region, including network construction and optimization. Asiacell will be able to address the difficulties of today’s multi-channel, multi-platform world with Ericsson’s technology and solutions and continue to provide high-performing mobile services to its consumers.
