Axis Communications, a global leader in network video and surveillance solutions, has issued its latest Sustainability Report. The comprehensive study showcases the company’s multi-faceted endeavors in advancing sustainability across its operations. These initiatives extend beyond mere product design and manufacturing, encompassing the entirety of value and supply chains.
“At Axis, our family spans across 50 countries with over 4,200 employees, alongside a vast network of technology collaborators and distributors. This expansive reach underscores our obligation to actively address socio-economic and environmental challenges. Our aim is to pioneer sustainability within our industry,” stated Atul Rajput, EMEA Director of Channel Partners and End Customers at Axis.
Aligned with the Axis Environmental Policy and Environmental Strategy, the company upholds a steadfast stance on its environmental footprint. Axis places a premium on its role in tackling critical contemporary social and environmental issues. This resolve is exemplified through various initiatives, including partnerships with Water Alliance and Emirates Environmental Group. These collaborations, in conjunction with UAE-based non-profit entities, address the critical concern of clean water accessibility. Axis thereby illustrates the potency of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in ensuring a water-secure future.
In 2022, Axis committed to establishing science-based emissions reduction targets. This framework, aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative, sets out clear benchmarks for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement objectives. By implementing these targets, Axis establishes a company-wide standard for its partners and suppliers.
Axis has also increased its utilization of recycled and renewable materials in product packaging, innovating beyond conventional fiber-based materials. This shift reduces transport emissions by manufacturing and configuring products in close proximity to target markets.
Axis and its suppliers are actively working towards deriving 50% of energy use in manufacturing and logistics from renewable sources by 2024, and achieving 100% by 2030. This commitment is reflected across operations, including the transition to LED lighting and energy-saving systems at the company’s main offices in Lund, Sweden.
As a champion of the UN Agenda 2030 and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, Axis promotes holistic change. This begins at the design and manufacturing level, where sustainable technologies can be adopted to strengthen rights, ensure privacy, and reduce environmental impact. Axis places emphasis on energy reduction during product usage, striving to minimize waste generation such as heat and electrical noise from power supplies.
In terms of cybersecurity, Axis adheres to rigorous best practices, encompassing product development through decommissioning. The company expanded its ISO/IEC 27001 certification to encompass its software platform, signifying a dedication to managing internal information infrastructure and bolstering reliability and confidentiality.
Axis’s commitment extends to the communities it operates in, with initiatives spanning the EMEA region in 2022. These efforts include a Women in Security event and contributions to The Children’s Jumper Day.
An exemplar of Axis’s social responsibility is its collaboration with the Dubai Autism Center. By integrating advanced audio solutions into the center’s facility, Axis enhances its commitment to aiding children with autism and their families. For a comprehensive view of Axis’s sustainability efforts in 2022, access the Sustainability Report here.
