Burjeel Holdings PLC, a prominent Healthcare Services Provider in the UAE and MENA region, publicly traded on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) under the symbol BURJEEL and ISIN AEE01119B224, has announced a significant strategic partnership with Oracle Health. This collaboration is set to revolutionize the Group’s healthcare services by implementing Oracle Health’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) solution. The primary objectives are to enhance clinical outcomes, streamline operational processes, and optimize financial efficiencies.
As a pivotal component of this partnership, Burjeel’s Board of Directors has greenlit a AED 125 million service contract to Oracle Health. This substantial investment will facilitate the establishment of an omnichannel and integrated EMR platform, enabling seamless integration of Burjeel’s clinical ecosystem across its extensive network of healthcare facilities.
Burjeel Holdings is making history as one of the first regional healthcare providers to embrace Oracle Health’s innovative EMR solution, running on the robust Oracle Cloud Infrastructure within the Oracle Cloud Dubai Region. This move underscores Burjeel’s unwavering commitment to harnessing technology to drive operational excellence, enhance clinical outcomes, and elevate the patient experience.
Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings PLC, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Collaborating with Oracle Health and implementing this cutting-edge technology in our operations will empower caregivers with a simplified yet comprehensive view of patient data. This will enable more informed care decisions and ultimately improve health outcomes. Our patients will experience streamlined care delivery, with reduced waiting times and increased face-to-face time with clinicians. Furthermore, we will be better equipped to enhance patient safety by ensuring that critical information is readily available when needed.”
Leveraging the performance, scalability, and inherent security features of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Burjeel anticipates significant enhancements in operational efficiency and financial performance. Additionally, the Group will be well-prepared to support evolving care delivery models that demand real-time coordination and seamless information exchange among multiple stakeholders, including providers, patients, and various locations. These advantages will open up substantial opportunities for the Group to integrate its expanding portfolio across the MENA region, aligning with its capex-lite approach to network expansion.
Akram Sami Dhaini, Vice President and Managing Director of Middle East and Africa at Oracle Health, commented on the collaboration, saying, “We are committed to working globally to help hospitals and health systems adopt digitized, open, and interconnected technologies to address their most complex challenges. Our collaboration with Burjeel further solidifies our presence in the region. Together, we are poised to scale technology solutions to meet Burjeel’s future needs, optimize operational and financial efficiencies, and enhance patient engagement and overall experience.”
The implementation of Burjeel’s updated EMR system and integrated solution will be carried out through a meticulously planned three-year rollout program. This initiative will commence with a pilot phase, introducing the system across key facilities, including Burjeel Medical City, Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, and Burjeel Day Care Surgery Center.
