Canon has announced the addition of its innovative FLXflow technology to the Arizona 1300 series flatbed printers, enhancing productivity and performance. Formerly known as FLOW technology, FLXflow retains the original ‘Hold’ functionality, which secures media on the zoneless flatbed table, while also introducing new optional features like ‘Float’ and ‘Instant Switch.’ With over 8,000 installations worldwide, Arizona users can now enjoy improved ease of use and application versatility.

The Arizona 1300 FLXflow is designed for mid-volume operations and supports a wide variety of substrates and applications. This allows large format graphics printers and print service providers (PSPs) to efficiently serve customers across various market segments, including retail, interior décor, packaging, and industrial applications. The FLXflow technology features three key functionalities—Hold, Float, and Instant Switch—that enable users to maneuver heavy and irregular media quickly and easily around the table. The Hold functionality uses a patented airflow technique to keep media securely in place, facilitating flexible positioning and significantly reducing the need for masking.

The new Float functionality creates an upward air cushion, simplifying the handling of challenging substrates and minimizing the risk of media damage or waste. It enables smoother registration, allowing for precise positioning of multiple media pieces simultaneously. The Instant Switch functionality allows operators to effortlessly transition from Hold to Float using foot pedals, streamlining the process of removing media from the table.

Arizona 1300 FLXflow customers also benefit from Advanced Image Layout Controls, which allow for last-minute adjustments at the printer. These features include image snapping and alignment, auto-trimming, nesting, and batch processing of complex jobs, enhancing flexibility and reducing material waste. Productivity is further improved through PRISMAservice support tools that provide predictive maintenance and authorized remote assistance from qualified technicians, ensuring increased uptime.

Existing users of the Arizona 1300 series with FLOW technology can upgrade to the latest FLXflow version, incorporating the optional Float and Instant Switch features along with Advanced Image Layout Controls. They can also add PRISMA XL Suite workflow software to enhance previews of complex, multi-layered jobs, enabling users to visualize final products before printing. Canon’s modular approach allows users to access the latest features without investing in new equipment, effectively extending the product lifecycle. The optional proCARE after-sales service program offers predictable maintenance costs, remote support, and fast response times to ensure maximum uptime. All Arizona printers come with a one-year Manufacturer’s Warranty, with extended warranty options available for three, four, or five years.

The Arizona 1300 FLXflow has been designed with sustainability in mind, offering reduced waste and lower energy consumption compared to previous models. The FLXflow technology minimizes the need for masking and underlays, leading to less waste. As LED-UV printers, they consume at least 15% less energy than their UV-halide predecessors and include power-saving features like first-time-right printing. The inks used are UL GREENGUARD Gold certified, ensuring safety for use in sensitive environments such as hospitals and schools.

Customers can also benefit from Canon’s remanufacturing program, which allows them to trade in their Arizona printers for refurbished models, further extending their lifespan. The Arizona 1300 FLXflow is available now through accredited partners and Canon’s direct sales channels.

Mathew Faulkner, Director of Marketing & Innovation, Wide Format Printing Group at Canon EMEA, emphasizes the company’s commitment to evolving its product portfolio. He stated, “With the introduction of FLXflow technology to the Arizona 1300 series, we are empowering our customers to deliver high-quality applications with greater workflow efficiency and productivity, while also making it easier for operators to handle irregular or heavy substrates.” Canon continues to expand creative possibilities for print service providers, opening new avenues for innovation in the printing industry.
